i agree we dont belong in conference why because they dont want us in it to far to travel, and our own fans have said that, the years in the confi we only took 20-30 to away gamesi never seen any of the posters on this forum at any away games so Cookie wheres your fan base

Just ONE fan makes for a fan base. You telling me we have NO fans whatsoever then? Home or away. Cant see your point there I'm afraid. As for posts on here who go to away games, well there are quite a few if you took the time to notice. I personnally am unable to make many away games but that dosent mean I am not part of the fan base.

It is not arrogant, it is ambitious, and without ambition no-one would get anywhere. And whilst I agree with Chatham Gary that we should, having achieved it once, aim to get back there again; I think it would be a mistake not to appreciate that the club has been every bit as committed to that goal, over the past two years, as the fans.

When we all work together, as we have done this season to stay alive, we are quite a powerful and effective force. Long may it stay that way.

If the club is sucessful the fan base will increase. And as for not going to away games, at least 200 did every 'home' game last season. Good enough to build on.

At the end of the day if we get back to the Conference it will have been because we deserve to be there on merit, not because of geography or the amount of away fans we take to other places.

It is arrogant for us, or any other club, to say we "belong" in the Conference. For donkey's years we were a Southern League club going nowhere. It is not lacking ambition to recognise this simple fact. Our current problems have been caused by over-ambition.

I think it's rubbish to say it's overambitious for Margate to play at the very least at Conference level. Look at far smaller places like Torquay who have supported a league team for years.

I am not agreeing with all the plans MFC have put forward. But Margate has the potential to be a league club.

And i think that would be brillaint for everyone in Thanet and all the fans on here.

THAT'S NOT WHAT I'M SAYING. AARRGGGGHHHH!

Mr. Anonymous is correct on this one. How can any side who are below the conference say they 'belong' there at any given time? Things change in football - regrettably, for you, for the worse, and I hope things work out for you with the temporary and, ultimately, permanent Hartsdown.

As Mr. Anonymous suggests, there is a difference between having ambitions to reach the Conference and thinking you 'belong' there.

After all, we are in the Conference at the moment, but if we get relegated next season, we won't 'belong' there any more. Simple as that.

If we are not in the Conference of course we cannot say we belong in it. The only way we will do that is if we build a team worthy to play in it. But that is only half of the equation, we also need the facilities to support it. The hindsight brigade lose sight of the fact that, when the initial plans were laid to rebuild the stadium we were in that league, and comfortably so, with the potential to climb even further. The ambition to do better necessiated an improvement of what, loved though it may have been, was a totally inadequate and outdated stadium.

OK so we are back to where we started and this, though regrettable, is as it is. But we are now seeing the development begin again. It means we may have to wait a while and work very hard, but we can have the ambition again, and if we can put that ambition to practical use we may well be able to earn a place in the Conference once more, but this time with the right infrastructure to go further.

Maybe all we need is to look ahead instead of continally look back. Oh dear, I have said all this before, haven't I?

I'm all for positive thinking. But we also have to learn from mistakes or run the risks of repeating them. What people on here myself included would like to see is that the club has learnt.
But there still seem an ongoing lack of real information from the club. Nobody from the club seems prepared to come on here and say who owns what.

Well, Ray, it is a Fans' forum, after all.

Seriously though, I think you said that you were involved in a company, is that a private one? Would you be happy to put onto the internet a list of everything you own? I am not sure I would be.

As far as information goes, the club has recently, in my opinion, been very good in letting us know what is happening. And at times when I have had any questions, I have asked them and they have told me. That does me fine.

To be honest, the club has said it has no assets. What do you expect though, seriously.

Yes the club has to watch out to ensure it doesnt make mistakes, but for heavens sake (and I never thought I would be saying it) please be more positive. There is a difference between being positive about the club but still wanting to know answers and being cynical about the club and asking questions and generally bringing down the tone in this forum. Ill admit some of my posts have leaned towards the latter as well but things are slowly but surely improving for the club.

If you still have questions, I suggest you come to the clubhouse next Wednesday and put your questions across then.

James,

I work/live in London and am doing interviews for 2 days next week, so wont be able to make meeting weds.

But I hope people there find out what the club owns and who owns the club, percentages etc.

And also an update on latest plans.

And also if the club is looking for either new investors or new owners?

If the club is doing the right thing now and need support to convince the council etc. They need to saying it loud and CLEAR.

I have that very list, from their May 2004 accounts. If you find the companies house website and find webcheck, search for Margate Football Club Ltd and it will give you it. You can pay online. Only a pound for their list (known as returns) and another pound for their latest accounts. It is worth it.

The list has two pages detailing the names, the adresses and the shares held by each individual shareholder. Its interesting to see who owns how much of the club. Dated 19th May 2004. Bear in mind that while it is public information, this is quite sensitive information and as such, it is advisable to not discuss its contents out in the open. Id rather not have shareholders wanting my guts for garters for telling everyone where they live.
