Tell me about it, i know what its like running a company because i do.
With regards to everything else, dont you believe that the current management also want a permanent structure in place, reserves teams to bring through a crop of youngsters who are good enough to play first team, i think you are a bit blinded in your view over where M.F.C are going but give you benefit of the doubt seeing that you, like me, have not run a football club.
All the things you spoke about would prob take a hell of alot of money, how do you then intend then to make viable? maybe if you could tell us then it might help the current directors of the football club with there plans. In the end we all support the club and anything anyone can do to help can only help us, the fans, get what we want. our club back home and our team winning

Thanks Laughing boy! I am not too sure whether the club want a permenant structure,Unless they get their way on the commercial development.
Lets face it there was one already at HDP and the club knocked it down without having a feasible plan to upgrade it.
And yes of course somebody needs to come forward to get the ball rolling financially. But a succesful well run club could get generate a lot of money. But that can only come about if more people have confidence in the running of the Club.
Try as i might i really cant see that happening without new people in charge who have a sensible but ambitious vision for the Club.

The club allowed Jim Parmenter to join the board from Dover in 1999, so they are willing for people to come in. Unfortunately, we all know how that ended up...

Forgive my ignorance but i have no idea of how much JP invested in the club or whether he still has a financial interest in the club.
Seems a bit dodgy that the club decided to groundshare at Dover and he is now back there.
I know a lot of the Clubs Loyal fans wouldnt hear a word of dissent about JP at the time. And now many of those same fans seem to believe that nothing is wrong with KP's running of the club. Its all just other people- Stadia Management,Link Records,Jim Parmenter,Thanet Council etc
Perhaps they are reall reasons why the club is in such a bad state and KP's only fault is a lack of judgement. Either way it's hardly encouraging.

How was it "dodgy" that we shared at Dover? We needed to find a Conference-standard ground – and there aren't too many of those in Kent!

Whether we should have shared at all (developing our ground one side at a time) is another issue (and, yes, I did raise this concern at the time).

It seemed dodgy too me.Because they could easily have built the ground up gradually and there would have been no need for an expensive groundshare at Dover. Parmenter may not have personally benefited but his club Dover did.

JP had fallen out with the Dover board when he came to us. However, I do agree that groundsharing should always have been an absolute last resort.

Bit of a leap there isn't it.

Are you saying that Mr Parmenter always planned to go back to Dover once he had fleeced Margate with a groundshare.

I think you need to find a lawyer who can explain the laws of libel to you.

You can say that,I cant possibly comment!

But there has been an ongoning lack of clarity about the Clubs moves for a few years. From Haine and Hartsdown and Ashford and Dover.
Who really knows what is going on? and who can really be happy at such a state of affairs?

Who owns the ground at the moment? And who actually owns Margate FC? Is it true that Mr Piper has been declared bankrupt? Does anyone know the full story?

Keith Piper is back on the Board. He was declared bankrupt last spring. 12 months has passed and he can return to the Board, which he duly has.

Margate FC is owned by the shareholders as its private limited company denotes.

The land is owned by the council but rented by the club but the stadium is owned by the club (I might be wrong there. Perhaps someone could confirm)

you got me scratching my head on that one what are they paying rent for if they dont pay there rent and get evicted do they take the stadium with them.

Thats why hopefully someone might confirm what I think is the situation.

I guess theoretically, yeah, that may well be the situation, if the bailiffs cant get anything sold off to pay for the debt. If a business doesnt pay its rents or rates, items could be sold at auction to pay for it.

Dont worry too much though. The Council arent that desperate. The Council have seen their accounts and know there is no way the club can sell anything more. They have no exteral assets to sell off.

Its a bizarre situation. Perhaps someone could jump in and clarify the situation.

at one time the council were hours away from taking action against MFC for unpaid rent, but some kind person informed the club what the councils intensions were and the club paid up that was said at a meeting that Mr Piper attended.

From the outside, the ownership issues, who owns what, who pays what and who owes how much to who still looks a serious and complex issue.

What clearly is needed is a couple of years of consolidation and some real clarity of thinking and policy from the current board.

Let the fans know what is what, then perhaps the questions will dry up.

Margates long term future does impact onto Kentish football, if only by the increased revenue from local derbies.

We have all witnessed the decline and demise of clubs such as Dover, Sittingbourne, Maidstone, Hythe, Dartford, Sheppey Utd and in every case it is a very long way back, if not impossible to recreate past glories.

Let Margate not go down that road.

We have declined far enough and theres no way we will do so further. The fan base here may not be as high as with other clubs but with those that do follow the club, they have a strong will and desire to see this club re-emerge as a force to be reckoned with, sooner rather than later. Dont let anyone underestimate this clubs following and their strength and resolve. From here on the only way is up, back to the elite in non-league football,to the place where we belong.

We don't "belong" to be in the Conference, and neither does anyone else. Everyone has to earn the right. The sad thing is the great achievement of winning the Southern League in 2001 and promotion to the Conference has been wasted.
