I am not too sure how many of the fans would like to see new owners?

It seems there are plenty on here who still have faith in the present board.

But I think they are in a very small minority of local football fans.

Hang on, hang on. Since we don't know who the new owners would be, how can we answer? It might be Roman Abramovich or some complete lunatic! An unfair question, surely.

I'd take Roman but yeah a complete lunatic might not be so hot! Seriously though its based on someone coming in with the ability and the desire to help MFC develop it's huge potential.

If that person exists they should make themselves known and we can make up our own minds.

If its got anything to do with the people that wanted to set up afc margate in the kent county league ( the old supporters association ) then i dont want to know.

Fact is, the club is a privately owned business so the question is totally irrelevant anyway.

Perhaps we could have a more revealing poll about why, in the past, present, and probably in the future, people taking pots at the club on a regular basis have done absolutely nothing to help support it, and just seem intent on causing as much trouble and discord as they can.

But you must know private businesses are taken over every day.

What you seem to be saying is you dont trust anyone who hasnt invested time and effort into the present MFC.(Despite any misgivings they have about the present regime)

If that really is the case you are going to be ruling out rather a lot of people.
I understand the siege mentality and in some ways its positive and admirable. But it strikes me as an attitude that can often hold things back.

LEGEND That is hardly a reasoned arguement.

It would help if we knew who these people who supposedly want to take over the club are and what their plans would be. For example, would they pull the plug on the current planning application and start again?

Yes, but first things first is the club for sale?

Do the people in charge and the people who currently loyally support the club want new owners? And I for one dont know enough about the commercial development to give a definite answer but i'm not overly impressed by the ideas.

Id rather get someone like Barr and co do a 500 seater main stand that could be extended both ends and build a permenant side terrace.

I reckon that was what the club should have done 4 years ago. And sold shares in the club to the supporters to raise extra money to further develop the ground ASAP.

I will be completley brutal BUT HONEST.I think the question should be.Do people want KP out or not?.I am afraid, upset people or not. It is as simple as that!!!!!

The question itself is ridiculous...you can pick both answers as your choice!

Much as I criticise the management, they are the ones who have lead the club and to replace them would mean bringing someone new in who would not know the history of the negotiations which would most likely cause more damage than sticking with the current management. MFC also appears a poisoned chalice of sorts, I remember reading that KP tried to find someone who might want to buy the club, albeit unsuccessfully.

As stated in an earlier post, it is an LTD and as such the shareholders, which appear to be the directors, are the owners. Legally speaking they can stay in forever if they wished.

I say keep the current owners...they have the knowledge...it would be foolish to get rid of those who have run it for so long.

Why we even having this poll? RayW if you are so interested in the club, then why not, as many people suggested before, go to the directors. It's not for us fans to say, whether we like the current setup or otherwise. An no, it isn't about blind loyalty again!

Good call James.

Right - I think these anonymous posters are unspeakable, and this from a person who normally goes around trying to find something in everyone to like.

We have been struggling for so long, where were these people then? Sitting complacently on their butts doing absolutely nothing to help, and occasionally throwing a negative comment or two on to the website for their warped amusement. And now that we are coming out on the other side of our troubles, and coming home, and nearing having a ground again, they want to sidle in and take everything away from the people who have worked the hardest to give the club back to the town.

If you think you can run a football club, go start one in Canterbury, they have not got one at all. We have one, it is a smashing club, full of very good people. It is friendly and welcoming to everyone of all ages, sexes and walks of life. It values it's supporters, and it's supporters value it back, ask any of us who have actually put our money where our mouths are and actually tried to help this last season. The club will be back playing at home next season, and given the hardships that were encountered on the way, this is a phenominal achievement, and something that can be built on for the future. Why would we want you?

You anonymous lot are just trouble-makers and stirrers. What have you done today to make you feel proud? (A hint, causing trouble does not count)

Im will tell you what I have done to make me feel proud.I have paid to watch Margate Football Club since 1947, a friend of an earlier poster. Our children and our grandchildren all became supporters. We have not been sitting on our butts doing nothing, we have been out there during the late 40s,the freezing 50s,the 60s,70s 80s,the 90s,the lot buying programmes, jackpot tickets.tea, burgers, chips, all money and ultimately profit for the club.Where were you on Wed 17th January 1973? four days after Margate played Spurs in the F.A.Cup in front of 14,000 people at Hartsdown. We along with approx 118 other people stood freezing at Hartsdown to watch the Gate play Canterbury City in a Kent Senior cup tie.We have been to all these type of matches over the years when others could or would not make the effort( some times Brrrrrrr it was an effort) and felt we contributed to the success in reaching the top of the Conference.Since then we have given cash to the Club for bricks?? what happens to this little bit of business now? Have thrown money into umpteen buckets.Have travelled to Dover, and lately Ashford.some times in the evenings when travelling conditions were far from ideal.causing concern for our wives until we arrived home safely.Just because I do not put a proper name to what I say does not make me a lesser person than any one else.I find your remarks about people like me not doing anything to help the Club most offensive. If it was not for people like me, and there are a lot of us out there doing our bit for the Club long, long, before some of you came along then there would be no Club for any one to support. As has been mentioned by some one elsewhwere the Club and all it stood for has been destroyed.Margate Football Club has lost all credibility and after the fine and proper way it was run many years ago ,that is terrible. Those days will never return because it is all about money now. What I mean by that is lack of it, caused by mismanagement of finances within the Club.I mention no names because in the [****!!****] eyed crackpot way the club is stuctured away from the playing side and the farcical way it does things and goes about its business it is as clear as mud as to who does what, and who is responsible for what, therefore really no one to blame, they cannot be identified. Probably the best bet is to go down the same road as the Club itself and blame every body else. All this is my response to earlier questins being asked about what people have done to help. I will probably get slagged off for this as well, but I do not care I am just a long time supporter of the Club with no other interest other than its well being, who is totaly fed up and dismayed as to what has and is happening.!!!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

James your probably right about the poll and question, do you want to do your own?
And failing businesses fail because they make mistakes. How many more mistakes would MFCs present board make before they lost more of their dwindling support.
How seriously did KP try and sell the club? I am not too sure? Sometimes people will pretend they are the only option and that despite trying to find new owners etc etc.

Have you ever owned a business or worked at a high level ie management level in a proper business, not a junior position at Tesco's? Unless you've been at that level I dont think you can really say that businesses fail simply because they made mistakes. I'm a former Governor at Thanet College. BIG decisions were made when I was there and I learnt an awful lot about running a business...it is not easy by a long shot.

Using MFC as an example here, they've made mistakes yes, but then every single business does that...the question is, what does the management do to turn it round? Whats its strategy?

To MFCs credit they are doing what they can. Mistakes have been made, Ill say but the club isnt dead yet...they've still got a chance. They are pushing ahead with the stadium. They know that the stadium is the place which will bring in the money. These people arent completely stupid.

As for the sale of the club, its not actually particularly important whether the club was sold or not. As was said by a previous poster, KP realises mistakes have been made and he has stuck around to rectify them. Ill give him that...slag him off all you want, but accept hes got the balls to come back and try to sort it out.

As for the poll...give me 24 hours. Ill have a new poll up then.

I am an MD and have also set up a new business in the last 15 months. I wouldnt claim to be a fountain of knowledge of all business issues.

And yeah i have made some mistakes along the way.

ButI would have clear ideas and a strategy to take the club forward.

As for the clubs mistakes well they certainly seem to have made a few whether its falling out with Link.the Stadia management, the first year of a groundshare at Dover while Hartsdown was still available. Knocking the ground down without planning permission and then a groundshare at a village outside Ashford. Not to mention 2 relegations.

It is hardly a record to inspire confidence in most people. But I do have to concede that a lot of people on here still seem to have faith In KP so either he must be doing something right or they are just kidding themselves.
