During most of our stay at Sungate we could rely on crowds of 200-300 unless there was big away support. After our drop down the hierarchy we are now down to the 120 hardcore but I would expect nothing less than a 100% attendance from those at the Bridge Avenue game plus anything up to 100 ex-Boro returning for the day.

The one thing that the Hornchurch adventure has shown us is that there is an untapped market for non-league football in the borough when when the public's imagination is captured.

Have heard a few rumours about trouble involving Romford fans. I say fans most of these were probably West Ham thugs banned from attending Hammers' matches. Some of these have now attached themselves to clubs such as Grays.

Agree with all this.

As Coup says, we must lobby the league to insist on sensible dates (not when I am on holiday) and as both clubs already have poster campaigns, we might want to agree a policy for the match of who is going to cover where.

No reason we can't make it a success.

For the record, first game was in 94-5 and the crowd was 900+ and only one person got a slap and that was 70s man. Bloke in his 30s with a scarf around his wrist, who started gobbing off in the pub outside the ground. Must admit was impressed at the Romford following that day.

The following season we played there again in the same round and the crowd had dipped to around the 650 mark, but have no recollection of any tear ups, apart from the late Mick the Stiff (70+ then) who wanted to beat the sh!t out of a programme seller as they had run out due to short print run!

Slow motion rumbles are always the best to witness.

what crowds were romford getting last year, what did you get against enfield, also can't see why we can't get big crowds if the local press(ie recorder)pump it up a bit

You can get all that on TK's site.

They will give false figures tho -

1. Because the league, cos of the Enfield Town/Brimsdown from different leagues sharing,
had to produce monthly fixtures and

2. They, in their wisdom (don't ask!) gave us two Tuesday evening fixtures in the middle of Winter.

This is why both Coup and I have been pleading for more attractive dates for Boro/HX games on previous threads.

We can't make it a bank holiday Monday!!

I'll be working bank holidays next season!!

Anyway, you can't beat Saturday afternoon for footy, especially in the knowledge that you don't have to work the next day - in most cases.

It'll be two occasions worth getting bang on it for! Can't be dealing with a Tuesday hangover while at work!
