Where we play next season

Recommended Posts

Interesting comment from the Windsor and Eton forum, though by Woody, admittedly:

"....will be interesting to see just where you end up. I've heard Beconsfeild said no along with Burnham so maybe Marlow? Or Maidenhead? Or Egham!? Staines!? Or of course The Stade De Meadow"

Interesting how a Windsor fan has picked up the story from Beaconsfield and Burnham, anybody on here heard any such thing? Anybody heard if we have been asking?

Not that I suppose we'd be told if they had......

Sorry, forgot - just pay the money, watch the football and SHUT UP!

Wasn't it in the papers a few weeks ago? I'm sure that's where I read that Burnham had heard from Martyn Deaner and rejected Slough's offer to play there. I remember there was a picture of Burnham's new clubhouse there. Maybe the Beaconsfield rumour was in there too.

well the fact is that unless a suitable piece of land magically pops up out of thin air in Slough which could accommodate a ground which complies with the bare minimum of Ryman League ground regulations, can be expanded to Conference National ground regulations (or Football League for that matter) with additional space for maximising other revenue streams the no-one will invest in the club.

What remaining sites in Slough are either parkland (which will come up with opposition from the f***ing tree-huggers) or old industrial sites on the Trading Estate (like a certain piece of wasteland on a certain park in a certain ward). In fact, any stadium site would come up against huge opposition when they play the 'Wexham Park' card and even if we explain until we're blue in the face why that's only a short-term option (lack of planning permission, lease issues, etc.) they won't change they're minds. Now unless someone can look at this situation in a different light and outline a scenario where we could move back to the Borough, then our best bet is too keep the club alive through reasonable ground-sharing arrangements until a solution can be reached.

Rant over.

there are, they just happen to fall under other council's boundaries - namely South Bucks and Windsor & Maidenhead or are parks. They best site would probably be on the farmland north of the rugby club where the hockey club is situated (?) - it's a big site and can be easily connected to the London Road and stuff.

hi there dave here hope all well after a hot sunny end to the day. i still fancey maidenhead as decient public transport like first great western link and buses every 30 minutes. as for windsor again ok saturdays but evenings quite difercault due to bus cutbacks. also slight alteraitions to the rail timetable for all rail services from 12 june 2004 and advise custemers and slough fans to pick up pocket timetables just delivered to all local staitons. burnham fc looks out if eton wick playing there'and beaconfield to difercault for many as infrequant buses and aquward to stop drivers as either to fast or speeding up anyway and losing more fans for distence.

cheers now dave programes <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bounce.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bounce.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bounce.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bounce.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bounce.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/chloe.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bootyshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/ban.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/arcadefreak.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/argue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/argue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/alert.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/afro.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/angel.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

As i understand, Burnham have had no official request from Slough as regards a ground share, the only contact has been from a Slough supporter who caught a Burnham game last season.

Burnham do not ground share with Eton Wick, they allowed them to use the gore for i think 2 games, as did Beaconsfield.

Talking to a Burnham official i understand the new Grandstand and Club House is due for completion mid July. Apparently it has a Club Bar and 3 Conference rooms. Why not try and see a pre season friendly there when Slough have no game and see it for youreslves (or ask Eddie to sort out a pre season friendly).

Best of luck to you next season, we need a strong Slough Town, it is good for ALL local football. BLUEY
