Seen Syrup's post on the EFC site?

Syrup-a serious question. At what point did the board decide upon this course of action? I imagine that, if as suggested in the Gazette, it was in part at least a response to the alleged complaints from the FA that a decision was made sometime ago.

If that's the case, it seems a bit off that Dave was expected to lead the charge of discontent in the local press and beyond about the treatment the club was receiving at the hands of the FA if the Board had already decided that it was to be his last action as manager. Cowardly, even.

I think Dave has taken this with some measure of dignity; hardly the actions of a man whose management style seems to be of such great concern.

It also begs the question of why EFC appears to be fawning to the FA.

I think the search for a new manager could be lengthy. The reputation of the club, that the Board has worked so hard to seek to restore, has been damaged by this episode. Let's hope we have heard the truth.

To be fair, even though i liked Macca as a person and as a manager.I do feel his,and the players, disipline and conduct had been poor last season.(this conclusion comes from watching half a dozen EFC games last season and from the things i read in the press).

I seems like a personality clash between the chairman and the manager.Did the rest of the board take much persuading from the chairman ,in order to reach a unanimous decision on sacking him.??

I can see both sides to this. We've had an excellent season on the pitch, for me that's all that matters, but then I'm just a fan. I think Macca did a great job, and it'll be hard to replace some of the players we will lose with better ones. I'd have given him more time, but I don't know what was said to him behind closed doors. On the other side if you're on the board and you have to keep appeasing the FA, the League, referees, opposing managers etc. there's only so much that can be put up with. We had far too many stupid sendings off last season for things like dissent and elbowing, and discipline wasn't improving.

I'd agree with all of that. My concern remains that a decision must have been taken a while back to dispense with Macca's services, but the Board was happy enough to allow Dave to make all the running on complaining publicly about the FA's handling of the promotion issue. Do you think he'd have done that if he knew he was going to be axed?

It still looks a bit shabby from the outside.

At last someone more interested in our business than someone else's.
