Whatever, 8 or 9 players out so far, one in, anybody else a tad worried?

It is slightly worrying, but there's still all of June and July and there's usually a spate of triallists (and these days triallists are usually something more than Kent League kids) during the pre-season friendlies. I'd be more worried if this was new territory for us, but don't we seem to do this every season?

Too right! we see quality players snapped up by other clubs every season, i'm not saying we aren't trying but it is so frustrating, I suppose I expected too much with us going fulltime we are still probably not able to compete financially.

At least with Andy we always had the chance of picking up a raw talent from the lower leagues.

I guess the juries still out as far as Liam Daish is concerned.

I wouldnt be too worried at the moment as I would think a lot of players are on holiday at the moment and will probably look for new clubs when they get back.Also a few clubs have released players and not signed anybody yet (Aldershot and Carlisle , unless anyone knows different), I think Burton would be an ok signing and so would Bobby Bowry, who has just been released by Colchester . Another thing to consider is that more and more players are being thrown on the dole nowadays and perhaps they will have too lower there expectations and I would think that a few half decent players will just be grateful for the chance of full time football next year.

The other thing is that as many mistakes seem to be made with summer signings as success stories.

 

Some managers seem to sign a few, then discard them in October and start again.

 

Quite a few teams have at least 60% different line up in December to August.

 

Maybe its no bad thing not to sign anyone until circa October

Nope, this happens most close seasons with us: a couple of years ago we lost Che, Craig, Aaron, Nick Burton, Jacko, Liam and Benno all in the space of a month or so! Doom-mongerers then 'seemed' justified in their woe as we'd only just staved off relegation in the last game of the season.

We got a load of fresh faces in and finished 11th!

With all due respect to those that have been released so far, I don't think half of them are a patch on some of the name's mentioned above!
