Lets not go overboard about someone asking is the club for sale, for all we know this rayw might not have a pot to piss in.On the other hand if he/she is loaded it dont take much to contact the club but it sounds like somthing that starts with B and ends in Allocks. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/whistling.gif" alt="" />

Good to hear how much you trust KP. But i am sure you will appreciate different people have different views,on the subject. The last few years have not filled many people with the same level of confidence about his ability to take the club forward. And that has not only put many fans off but also potential sponsors.
I understand the defensiveness and siege mentality of MFC's loyal fans. But there are plenty of other people who care about the club, who would only come forward if there was a change of regime.
Surely everyone wants the same thing. Margate have a massive potential fans base. Even if just 2% of people in Thanet followed the club that would be 2,600 people inside Hartsdown every week.
I believe that is very achievable.
( Lets face at least 2% of the general pop are football fans)
But probably not under the present regime.
If i'm wrong though, i'll stick my hands up and be well pleased to see the club realise some of its fantastic potential.

Bang on the nail rayw.

People happy with the current regime are in the minority lets just say that.

Rayw, the truth of the matter is, that most people, unless they have beamed down from Planet Glazer, would not give a flying you-know-what about who owns a club or what the history of that ownership is, when a team in the town's colours runs out onto a lovely green footy ground and thumps a little ball around for the honour of aforesaid town. We here may be different, but I doubt the antecedents of club ownership will put most footy fans off.

Truth be told, if we win and keep winning, we will be inundated with fans who will swear that they have been lifetime supporters who have never missed a match. Most footy fans are fickle tarts.

My heart lies with the other ones that keep loving the club when things get really grotty, because they are the heart and soul of MFC. Won't stop me welcoming the arrivistes though, as bums on seats will assure our future.

The thing is i partially agree with you.If KP does turn things round then more people will get involved as supporters/sponsors etc.

But turning round a failing business is a difficult job. And it usually requires fresh management to build up a positive momentum and increased confidence.

But if he doesn't really want to sell then nobody can force him. It would be sad if this meant the continuing demise of the Club.

And as you seem to recognise the club needs a lot more than 250 people who broadly think KP has done a good job, under difficult circumstances.

Are there no circumstances in which you could work alongside the current regime?

I would only give up time or money for any venture. If i was clear that all interested parties were shooting for the same goal and were open and honest about those goals.
I really dont like the sound of the commercial development one bit. I dont know enough about KP to make a firm decision on his integrity.
But if he does genuinelly want the best for the club and needs then maybe he should make an open appeal for more people to come forward to take a share in the club.

Rayw. If you want to give it a go then try but when you look at football clubs these days, they all need commercial backing to bring the funds in. Dont completely knock the commercial plans but i agree that in the original plans, too much park was going to be compromised. Have a couple of 5 a side pitches for training. I like the idea of a hotel but the doctors surgery and large astroturf pitch was too much.

Plans for commercial development are all too often a smokescreen or just badly thought out.

Just look at Bates motel at Chelsea, a drain on the football side that now is standing in the way of developing the ground.

With so many Hotels already closed down in Margate I think its a brave man who would want to put money in to building a new one.

Football clubs need to be more business minded without a doubt. But commercial development is not a magic wand for long term success.

Yeah tony i think your a good judge of character. I'll agree with ya mate.
I doubt this is gonna come to anything!

Well yeah,I wouldn't neccesary jump at the first person on here who declares an interest.
But it is preety irrelevant my motivation or financial ability. If the club is not interested in new owners.
And to be honest Tony M. I could raise the finances to invest in a decent ground but taking on all debts would be way too much for me personally. But other potential investors and the clubs fans may be interested in taking shares.
Like i've sadi i believe in the potential of MFC and think a change of ownership is probably the right way forward.
But whoever came in would have to give some guarantees to the loyal supporters of the club and indeed the wider population of Thanet.

Legally speaking I think you are wrong. By saying that fans should be offered a share, Im guessing you mean offer shares in MFC to the public. Legally they cant do that really...Margate FC isnt a PLC. Only PLCs can publically trade shares.

Also offering shares top the public would weaken their sharepool, thereby weakening control. I see no point in offering shares right now.

That's not strictly true the board of Margate FC could come to you and say that we have some shares available would you be interested or do you know anyone else who might be.

Equally anybody can go to the board and say "I have some money to invest do you want to sell me some shares"

What a private company cannot do is advertise shares for sale, and as you rightly said there would be no open market for the shares. Even that though would not prevent the shares being traded between a willing buyer and a willing seller.

Yeah...my mistake. Still not a good idea though. Look at Planestation (Manston Airport owners). They issued a new load of shares not too long ago at 10p each...at this moment they stand at 9p. My biggest fear right now is that the passenger numbers should be out soonish...if they arent good, people might jump ship in greater numbers.

As for Margate, given their current situation I dont think it would be a good risk right now to accept a offer of shares.
