I am not an irritating scaremonger,I am some one who has supported Margate Football Club since 1948 I know exactly the amount of effort that goes into supporting the Club andkeeping it going through thick and thin. Many times over the yearswe have played 1st team matches at Hartsdown in front of barely 120 people.People likeus have carried on cheering them on right up to the top of the Conferene and have been immensley proud to have done so.Allthis has now been taken away from us,and the whole Club has been allowed to disintergrate into the appalling ramshackle outfit it now is.Now whether people like it or not it is some ones fault and much as I disagree about what Cookie says sometimes I do believe he has hit the nail on the head in his earlier comments about a third party becoming involved.I personally blame KP.Before every one starts slagging me off,I accept and ackknowledge all he has done for the Club in the past, and has and indeed now is doing his best, but unfortunately that is not enough, our future is still uncertain, so now what happens ,he is welcomed back on to the Board of Directors. Why on earth dont the Club try and get some one else on board.Maybe some one who is Council freindly.I believe for the good of the Club he should step down and see what happens. He can always come back, but no I beleve he wants it all himself. These are not only my thoughts and beliefs ,ask around the town find out what the hundreds of ex fans think about who is to blame.Behind all the misguided support for him I think the truth will come out!!!!!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

The club needs extra investment and a better relationship with the council.

For that to happen. The club needs to be sold either to supporters or new investors.

Margate fc does have a lot of potential but under the present owners it is being wasted.

I would like to know if the CLUB IS FOR SALE?

And how much would the administrators accept as a bid for the club?

If you were serious then the price probably wouldn't be very high, but it would mean that you would have to take on all of the debts as well, quoted above at around £400,000.

Have you got that sort of money?

At the end of season awards KP said he tried last summer to get someone else to take over the club, but without success. I can't imagine many will be queuing up.

Why would anyone have to pay off all the debts ? With the CVA the present owners are planning to pay back 10%. So surely paying off even 11% of the debts would be acceptable to the administrators?

Isnt it the job of the administrators to get the best deal for the creditors. In which case i have got the money and i would be interested.

It says above that the CVA was refused.

It's not the job of adminstrators to get the best result for the creditors, that would be the job of the liquidators. The administrators job is to try and keep the company running if possible.

Lets get this clear...which CVA was refused? Im guessing you are referring to Hornchurch not Margate because thats still beiong negotiated...right?

Agree with you on point 2 though. Although Im pretty sure the administrators are keeping the creditors in their minds eye.

Is KP serious in wanting someone to come forward to take over the club? Is the club for sale?
I cant imagine that i will be the only person in the quee if the club state categorically that they want new owners?

The club is making progress with their long term plan. You can see the visible progress with the actual football ground. Keith is back on the Board of Directors. He together with Colin and the valiant efforts of others have kept the club alive. There is no intention to sell the club.

The club needs its supporters to encourage sponsorship to bring in revenue. That is one of the most practical ways of actively supporting rhe club in the close season. The details of sponsorship opportunities are available on the clubs website.

How much sponsorship can you attract?

So the club is not for sale then?

Surley it would be in every ones best interests if their was a change of ownership and increased investment.

If you have an interest in the club then i suggest you talk to the directors and offer your services. You could also help by getting involved with the supporters club if you arn't already.

I would think if you were a major shareholder then you could pull the strings.

I would be extemely surprised if the club was up for sale, as my understanding was that an attempt would be made to encourage new investment by inviting new directors to the board. Having said that, if it were I, I would be very cautious even in our uncertain state to take all comers, as there is danger that some of them could well be vipers. And we are actually building something for the future without them.

It would certainly not be in my interests for a change of ownership to occur, one of the reasons I have become so attached to the club is that I have got to know KP, and he is such a nice, decent man, who always has a word and a smile for me when ever I have run into him. I have many times asked him questions about what is happening, and spookily enough he always gives me an answer, and even more spookily, what he says normally turns out to be the case. And even more than that, I have never heard him bad-mouth anyone or impune anyone's integrity or honesty, so I would not want to swap him for anyone who does (that means some of you, irritating doom merchants).

KP IS MARGATE FC - get over it already - and long may he remain so. If anyone has the right to have that said about him it is the man who has kept us alive for so long. The club is coming home, and if it is down to the blood, toil, sweat, tears, health and happiness of any one person, it is down to him.

Interesting that our anonymous friend does not respond to the idea of pulling sponsorship in - like too much hard work is it? Why don't you just leave it to the folk that have been putting in the hard work over many years, let them get on with it, and give them some support if it is possible. Goes against the grain, does it, to actually do anything constructive to help the club?

Bog off, you naughty little imps.

Actually margatefan i agree with you although kp has always kept things close to his chest. But thats how people run football clubs. But if someone is genuine in putting something into the club, money or work then they should be encouraged to help.

Good to hear how much you trust KP. But i am sure you will appreciate different people have different views,on the subject. The last few years have not filled many people with the same level of confidence about his ability to take the club forward. And that has not only put many fans off but also potential sponsors.

I understand the defensiveness and siege mentality of MFC's loyal fans. But there are plenty of other people who care about the club, who would only come forward if there was a change of regime.

Surely everyone wants the same thing. Margate have a massive potential fans base. Even if just 2% of people in Thanet followed the club that would be 2,600 people inside Hartsdown every week.

I believe that is very achievable.

( Lets face at least 2% of the general pop are football fans)

But probably not under the present regime.

If i'm wrong though, i'll stick my hands up and be well pleased to see the club realise some of its fantastic potential.
