Under 18s narrowly went down to a talented Redbridge side in a game they needed to win to take the divisonal winners play-off crown

 

A game of two halves really. Redbridge always looking the better in the first half with some nice passing movements and took a 2-0 lead with a soft looking penalty and a well-worked goal. We changed our system after abt 40 minutes going 3-5-2 and clawed our way back into it with a Tom Poole penalty on the stroke of half time.

 

Our lads were much the better side in the second half and when Rob Sweyne headed home to make it two each it looked like we might go on to win the game. Poole then hit the bar and had an effort disallowed for offside before Redbridge scored a superbly taken winner in the closing stages as we went for broke to secure the win we needed.

 

Well done to all the players on both sides for a very watchable game.

 

In other news, it looks the signing of a new winger may be announced shortly, whilst friendlies have been confirmed against Barnet and Leyton Orient at home and Burnham, Sudbury, Aveley and Witham away (dates TBA)..there is possibly one further fiendly in the offing.

 

The vibe is good and looking fwd to next season already
