HFC programme last season was without any question the best in the league - it improved markedly after Xmas - prior to that it was so-so.

It is well worth the £2 charge and on the assumption that it is now intended to make a profit on the programme, then I for one will be more than happy to fork out £2 or more if necessary.

Personally speaking, I would more than welcome UU as a regular contributor.

My only real criticism of last season's programme was the lack of stats (ie no line ups) and the very poor proof reading - Example of this is that Adam Locke's name continued to appear in the programme long after he went to Bromley, and Andy Tomlinson's name sometimes appeared as Thompson.

In the ESL Enfield Town's programme was in a class of its own,

But any fan would ignore lineups and instead obtain a team sheet which are always freely available.

In the same way as a Premier Lge progi contains names of all the squad!

On that subject does anyone remember the progi changes at div 1 grounds displayed on boards alongside the pitch.

Or a bloke would walk round the perimeter with a display board!

Good times eh?

Alright son! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I remember those display boards.

Always looked forward to the bloke doing the Half Time scores.

If I remember, each game was alphabeticised i.e. Aston Villa vs Sunderland was "A" and so on...

Ere, Bionic !!

Do you remember the Percy Dalton's peanut seller over at the Irons ? Used to throw your coins down to him and he would chuck a paper bag of Dalton's Finest up to you. Bugger if you were in the West Stand Upper though!

Funny when everyone started to mimic his famous nasal call..."PEANUTS!!!!" The geezer didn't know where to look.

The couple of times I went over Tottenham in the 60s the Dalton's bloke used to shout: "First Division Peanuts" now what was that all about?

I digress. Re programmes etc, welcome to the real world chaps. The use of the tannoy system in the ESL is few and far between, and as for programmes, most are cobbled together as a labour of love by committee members of said clubs.

Let's face it, when you consider the size of most of the crowds in our league then it is hardly worth the clubs' while to provide anything bordering on decent.

Our issue was £1.20 last season and is not a bad effort at all when you consider our financial restrictions.

But if you do have many serious collectors at AFC HX, it would be worth making contact with the opposition to get them to print more before your arrival.

Mind you this has fallen on deaf ears in the seven years we have played at this level, with certain clubs printing their usual fifty regardless if Enfield Town or Romford were visiting.

just a few seasons ago, Wealdstone started printing both squads in the programme with space to mark the numbers of the two teams when announced over the tannoy. It wasn't rocket science and it mirrored a practice used by league clubs at the time. Unfortunately this fell foul of Ryman League rules, which demanded that programmes name the two sides with traditional numbers 1 - 11 plus substitutes.

What appeared a minor disagreement escalated when an official made some statements in the next programme along the lines of suggesting the league committe were being a bit petty. All turned a bit ugly and club official was promoted to ex-club official as things deteriated.

Oh happy days. I always wondered how the league would have reacted if Romford had adopted squad numbers and names on shirts?

On a similar tack, we too had a few probs with the Ryman Stasi back in '96. When the infamous 'merger' had taken place, the powers that be took umbrage to the fact that Collier Row was in a smaller typeface than Romford!

Boy did they earn their money!
