Attendances

Recommended Posts

Highest ever attendance int he ESL was 3500 at Larkins - this was whem Jimmy Greaves made his debut for them in the LC.

Highest average in the ESL was 850 - Billericay.

Highest gate by an ESL team whilst in the ESL as 3800 - Billericay once again.

Lowest attendance is six (Eton Manor this year).

London APSA is next lowest on ten.

Of course the Hornchurch average will be lower - to a large extent it will depend on what sort of team they have out (ie whether they are making a serious bid for the league) - I think the average will be between 303 and 403.

Intersting fact about Concord - their ground has a capacity limit of 850 for daytime matches, and 350 for night matches - and their own ground record was set up by a Sunday club (when Lee Chapel North played there).

And one other totally irrelevant item London APSA had to change their name to London APSA when they entered the ESL - it was London Asian Peoples Sports Association - it is now "All Peoples Sports Asscociation".

And to carry on with the useless stats - four of the clubs in the ESL have never had a ground of their own whilst in the ESL. Bury Academy (played at Bury Town), Enfield Town (Brimsdown), Romford (various grounds), London APSA (Aveley).

Eton Manor, who also do not have their own ground, did in fact play at their own ground at one time, (in Roding Lane, Chigwell).

This is because there is a gas terminal near to the ground and due to safety issues are restricted in how many people they can have in the ground (careful with those cigarettes!!). Concord could never play in the Ryman due to these safety issues regarding their ground. They could never get a safety certificate to play at Ryman level in front of potentially higher crowds.

Rumour has it that if Canvey were to move in to a new stadium, Concord would move in to Park Lane to help their move up the leagues.

Thought CIFC were to move to that sight at the North part of the island Yellow?

Supposedly CIFC want to move to a site near Waterside farm sports centre in the North East part of the island.

Concord are based in the South of the Island.

The guy must be a nutcase then. No way we could develop Park Lane any further. It's in a residential area and I doubt the local residents would take too kindly to redevelopment on their doorstep.

Despite this restriction on Concord, I believe that the council would allow houses to be built there!! So it is safe for people to live, but not for football supporters.

Yep they have built some new properties there recently. Quite nice having a great big gas terminal in your back garden!!!

I assume the houses are all electric.

But the 850 day / 350 night restriction is illogical, as the bang is just as loud at night as in the day.

>>according to TK's site London APSA had an attendanc this year of 4 and Eton Manor had one of 5

Thanks for the information - I was actually quoting from the ESL weekly newsletter, which unfortunately must have missed out on these two attendances.

And the lowest attendance in the FA Vase was Nil (at Portmouth RN one year). Cannot be sure, but I believe they may have also sold out of programmes on that occasion.
