Hostility Towards AFC Hornchurch

Recommended Posts

Over the past few seasons on this forum, everyone was having a pop at Enfield Town.I began to wonder to myself 'Why the constant digs at us.Are we not conducting ourselves properly. Why the jealousy.'

That was before i've just seen everyone who used to criticize us,instantly jump on the back of Hornchurch forum users. The usual suspects (you know who you are) have gone after AFC Hornchurch supporters, in the same rude and uncalled for way, that they went after Enfield Town.

Yes,Hornchurch was built up on money, and most of the supporters are have only started watching the team fairly recently. But which team in the same situation would turn down that sort of finacial investment.Which team would turn down a massive influx of new supporters.Certainly not Abbey or Romford.

The only advantage is, that the Hornchurch forum members will have over the antagonists,is that they will out number them 10 to 1 on the ESL forum, just as Town did for the last few seasons.

Abbeynut,Coup...etc.I've a feeling these Hornchurch boys will be a lot less gratious and reserved than most of the Enfiled Town members were.I've reckon the Hornchurch boys will give you a very rough time on here, next season.

truth is LS we were expecting it and are used to it....you may very well be aware that most of the Hx forum users can...shall we say...look after themselves on these boards...

the Hx faithful may very well have been accused of jumping on the good ship Hx in its four year roller coaster ride but they have shown their mettle and their character since November and if anything our attendences went up after that bad month...

there is little these forum snipers can do to fuffle our feathers that we haven't had before....

but as you correctly point out...they won't have been used to the type of overwhelming response that they will receive...(I believe a dagger who had misguidely decided to slag us off on our own forum had 1000 emails sent to his computer by mistake yesterday)

apparently he is still trying to delete them so he can reboot to the forums...

in another part of downtown essex Mr Manor has more than likely been hauled before his board to explain the impending Urchin boycott of the fixture over there...2 grand down the drain and they are still counting....

we'll take it in our strides and have a larf with 'em and good luck to you next season...nice to see you on your way upwards

Hornchurch have always had their snipers. Same as Canvey, no one likes a club that comes into a bit of money and works their way up the leagues. A few seasons ago nobody had a good word to say about Canvey. We were supposedly the most hated club in non league and everybody had a good laugh when we blew the title in 2002.

Over time though people began to respect us for the football we played and how we represented the Ryman league in both cup and FA Trophy. When we won the Ryman in 2004 we had nothing but praise from people.

Hornchurch will soon earn respect and soon ram those snipers' words right down their throats.

Keep the faith and live forever. Forget what the others say and concentrate on yourselves!!

Hi Uncle, nice to see you on the ESL forum (if you see what I mean...)

Pity we missed each other, maybe we'll be in the same league next year! Keep those urchinettes warm for me!

Speaking of which, do they have to weat even skimpier costumes now, as part of the cost-cutting exercises???

To be quite honest LS what is there to be jealous of ? We all seem to stumble into the clubs we support or follow our fathers and family mostly it's where you live. Quite a lot of different factors are involved but most of us don't choose our teams for there success. It's not really clean and wholesome to do this. (Tell me one person who dosen't sneer at a Man Utd fan who lives anywhere but Manchester.) So there's no jealousy as such 'cause we all love our teams and think anybody who supports another team is warped and strange in the head.

Everyone knows that most of Hornchurchs fans are/were there for the ride, the success junkies. But thats fine. If Romford have good times I hope our gates swell because thats the way you grow as a team. And lets hope this happens and we can sustain the growth and success.

We all enjoy having a dig at others I'm really glad Hx are here it makes things much more exciting outnumberd 10 to 1 I love those odds. This next season will be so much fun.

How many of the people on this site really hate ? 1 maybe 2. The reason you feel ETFC gets a lot of hostillity is misguided. It's what people from a club say that creates the hostillity. Thats why you feel people get at your team but they don't. It's because you are a jumped up little pr!ck that you perceive this in this way.

I have a lot of time and respect for a lot ETFC supporters, but you are not one of them. So I suggest you pull your head out of your [****!!****] and get some humility.

LW is pretty right there. every club from top to bottom wants to attract new fans and as LW says if we become very succesful and more people start supporting then great! yes they will be called glory hunters but at the end of the day success means your probably playing good football and people are willing to watch good football.

i dont think anyone hates anyone either, of course there is going to be plenty of banter flying about but thats what the forum is about. hostility is a bit over the top. what i can see is a bit of welcoming banter and as unc says im sure they can look after themselves. good luck lads.

I know most regular posters on this forum fiecely dislike ETFC.They try to hide the fact and even get pally with a few of our supporters, but their true feelings always seem to slip out, with snide remarks and general 'wind-up' tactics. The only time we didn't get the underhand remarks ,was if their team took some heavy defeats,we didn't see them from one week to the next. But hey, that in the past now.

I will always be grateful to the ESL for giving us a chance to get back into football. There are some great people in the ESL (take a bow Chairman). There are some nice clubs as well (take a bow Eton Manor).

What i won't miss is the standards of the officials AND the general undercurrent of hostility both from oppossing managers/players and especially i won't miss some of the bitter b*rstards (Copyright A.Partridge) ,that frequent this forum.

I think what has got some people from Abbey hot under the collar,is that they perceive Hornchurch as a threat for the title next season.Just as their beginning to get their finger out, regarding ground improvements .Thats the last thing they want.

Not everyone on these forms try to hide their dislike of ETFC!

What you should be asking yourself is WHY has the situation arisen. Yes, some of it is jealously (that's human nature) but most of it is because of the way that you (as a club) have conducted yourselves over the last few years... arrogance, lack of humility, disrespect to (some of) the other clubs in the ESL... the list goes on.

So, are you are saying that you have never made snide remarks or used wind up tactics ? Yeah right!

Strangely enough, that's not what you and most the other ETFC fans that frequnt these forums were saying last season when you thought you were going into the Ryman League.

You were NOT given a chance to "get back into football" - you were given the chance to GET INTO football. So, yes you SHOULD be VERY GRATEFUL.

Agree about the standards of some officials!

If you think there is hosility now (from 14 ESL clubs) you are gonna really 'enjoy' Step 4 where the clubs are generally more established and better supported.

If you don't like the posts from "bitter b*rstards (Copyright A.Partridge) ,that frequent this forum" then stop frequenting it and leaving your inane posts which only serve to do everything you are accusing others of doing!

I must have missed something here, who at the Abbey is "hot under the collar" about Hornchurch ? Certainly not me. It is a new season, clubs change squads etc so who is to say where "a threat for the title" will come from.

I'm glad you've admitted that. Some ETFC fans are still under the misapprehension that you lot have been playing a with 'a straight bat'.

Better established and better supported???? Then there less chance of the opposing teams approching games as if they were sunday league tear-ups instead of senior football matches .The number of aggresive players and aggresive fans (percentage wise),has been far higher in the ESL than i have experienced in 20 years of watching non league football at the higher levels

As current champions of the ESL,we have every right to use this forum.I'm sure we'll gradually switch over to the Southern league forum as the new season approaches, and then just pop into this forum occasionally out of curiosity.

Who's hot under the collar????? Abbeynut for starters. He's been stalking certain forum members of the Hornchurch board, from the moment it was announced they were entering the league.

Finally ,the dislike of ETFC (and its fans),by certain individuals on here, has little to do with how we have behaved in our 4 years as a club, and a lot more to do with things that happened in the past, when we all supported the same club.So lets be honest about it.Neither side liked eachother years before Enfield Town were created.

Nice one UU, I'm beginning to like you. And your entirely right when you say that nothing said on this forum really matters in the scheme of things.

Of course we have all enjoyed your fall from grace, but you should expect nothing less less from us old Boro fans who have experienced the highs (not many) and the lows since the sixties. We are all looking forward to playing you lot and hoping that your supporters will be as good as their word and bring us all the extra income. Obviously we expect hundreds over Rush Green but if the same numbers turn up on a wet Tuesday in February at Burnham, I for one will take my hat off to them and perhaps even stop the mention of "gloryhunters".

Having lived in Upminster for the last 23 years I have always followed the fortunes of my local team with interest and am genuinely pleased that there is still a senior club over Bridge Avenue.

Anyway no more sickening niceness from me. Can't wait for August.

So, yet again you've tried to twist what I wrote... I mentioned no names and you 'attack' me.

OK. For the record (again!).

I will NEVER support ETFC - partly due to personal reasons but mostly becasue it almost destroyed Enfield FC.

Who's letting their true feelings slip now ? If you can't take it don't dish it out. All your problems are self inflicted due to your arrogance etc.

Yep... anyone has the right to frequent what ever forum they like (assuming they haven't been banned) and say within the bounds of decency what they like or suffer the consequences - that's the beaty of the freedom of free speech. But don't cry foul when your posts incite others to bite back!

If that's the case, then I stand corrected... I don't have the time to read ALL the forums.

Hmm... intesting! So you're saying everyone on here dislikes ETFC because of Enfield FC ?

What tosh! It has EVERYTHING to do with how ETFC have conducted themselves over the last four years.

E.G. some of the bitter and twisted posts that have been put on these forums which have been removed due to their content. Trashing personal property because a game has been lost. Spitting at officials and opposing players (again because a game has been lost). "Sportsmanship" during games. Am bored listing them now so I will leave that to others that you have alianated if they so wish.

You think you know about me - and I can assure you that you don't - but even if you are right, which you are not, how do you come to that conclusion about supporters from Romford, Eton Manor and Southend Manor to name a few ? Then there's Leyton... pre ETFC days there was basically no connection.
