Had an idea this morning for making the match programme a bit more interesting.

How about inviting fans to write a piece about themselves, a bit like the Saints fans sign-up thing on the website, describing themselves, how long they've supported the Saints, memorable games, favourite players, etc. A couple of hundred words would do, you obviously don't want people's life stories.

Anothe couple of ideas I've noticed on my travels through cyber-space:

1. Sponsorship of the supporters club coach. Say half to go the the club and half to subsidise the cost of the coach.

2. Downloadable matchday posters for people to distribute.

Comments invited (no, not you, Mad!).

I like the idea of the coach sponsorship, Rob. At present, with the help of the coach raffle, the Supporters Club look to try and at least break even on the Players/Supporters coach. Any injection of sponsorship money would not only allow the Supporters Club to boost funds, which obviously, eventually find their way to the parent club but could also help in possibly reducing coach prices for the supporters to the away games.

Hi Rob.

Every time there is any comment on here regarding the matchday programme, three things happen:

1]. A couple of good ideas are put forward but not taken up.

2]. I get abused in the clubhouse by Lee Wood.

3]. Err. Nothing else.

The 'style' of the programme is the best in the League. Lee Wood and Queensway are pros. In my view, the substance is lacking, however.

The various ideas on here over the past few weeks include: Player profiles/interviews; Director profiles/interviews; Backroom person profiles/interviews; Commercial page; League tables [see the Canvey programme -not]; Quiz; match report of previous games; 'From the archives'.

According to the matchday programme, the matchday programme is co-ordinated by Steve Eames, Nick Crowther and Lee Wood.

Now, one possibility is that those chaps have considered these various suggestions and rejected them as they are happy with the current matchday programme. Another possibility is that they are a little shy of asking for assistance. A third is that they are waiting for someone to move from making an outline suggestion to producing some copy.

Something might be prompted if one of them would come on here and make a response.
