Hakki, Steer and Miller leave the club

I was a big fan of Veli's as I thought his performances at times under Steve Browne kept us in matches. Since his return there have been too many fancy flicks and his game did really not suit the stag meadow pitch. I think he prefered a narrow pitch like we had at Wexham Park.

Miller - big disappointment for me. Nice guy, but if he is not scoring does not really offer you anything in my opinion. Yes he works his socks off, but does not hold the ball up well enough and did not score last season and not since Walton (away) about a year and a half ago.

Steers a dodgy one. Can be good, but can also be bad. If Eddie played 4-4-2 with Steer left-wing and a defender behind him, then he seems to play well. At left wing back with defensive duties seems to struggle a bit, which is why he was probably released. I think Eddie has a couple in mind for the left-wing back role

Hope all three players get good clubs - and good luck.

I'm a bit disappointed with Veli's comments in the NLP, which have been taken from the Slough Observer. He suggests he wasn't given a chance and that the fans turned against him even refusing to cheer him after the Bryco Cup win. What nonsense.

The reality is that after coming back from injury he only once recaptured the form that he showed before leaving in 2002 and that was against Cheshunt in the FA Cup when he came off the bench. If fans cooled their enthusiasm towards him it was because we knew he was capable of so much more but suggestions we turned against him are rubbish. He did have chances but was overtaken by Harris and Mason, both of whom offer a far greater likelihood of goals.

I think he needs a little reality check which is a shame as when he ws on form he remains one of the best players I've seen in a Slough shirt.

My personal opinions on the three players mentioned - Allaway, Spencer, Hodges:

Shaun Allaway

Goalkeeper who was playing league football, took a huge drop in divisions to play for slough.

Plus points

Young enough if dedicated enough to improve his game and make it back into league football.

Best attribute is his reaction saves.

Minus points

Stays on his goal line too much.

Does'nt inspire confidence when he comes off his line

Dead ball kicking is erratic.

Probably highest paid player at Slough.

Future at Slough Town?

It will probably be mutually agreed that Shaun will leave the club because Eddie hopefully sees that Parkin is a better all round keeper and to keep paying Shaun top money and not be able to guarantee him a game will not suit either party.

Ryan Spencer

When he first came to the club I thought he showed good potential but he hasn't progressed.

Whether he stays might purely depend on whether Eddie can find a replacement now that hakki has left and Wilko probably won't be playing and whether Ryan himself wants to carry on playing a bit part.

Ian Hodges

When Hodgey left us it was no surprise but what did surprise me was going to Wycombe. I would have thought the best move for him would have been to take a step or two up and go to a Conference team as per Boot.

Hodgey wants to progress and if an offer comes in from a higher league club he will be off.

The only problem I can see for him getting a better offer is his playing record for last season i.e. hasn't scored many goals and played most of the time in defence.

His willingness to help Slough out could backfire on him but be great news for us.

Personally from the point of view of the 3 mentioned above.

Allaway:- If he leaves we will need a new sub goalkeeper- Cos Parky has proved himself to be number 1.

Hodgey: Class- Hope he stays, still a golascoring machine in my opinion.

Spencer: I think he has a pretty decent season, and is an important player for us- either in midfield or up front. Hope he stays.

Allaway - Parkin outperformed him, which doesn't say much for his prospects of getting back into league football. Let's save the money for other players.

Spencer - is class and is an important player for Slough.

Hodges - hope he stays, mixed season due to playing at the back, but will always score goals.

Not so sure the ones mentioned here are the ones that may leave. I think Eddie will desperately want to keep Hodgey.

Personally at I guess i'd say it would be 3 or 2 from Allaway, Cann, Kassim, Shepherd, Matt Murphy (Only if the travelling is a problem), Spencer and Wilko (only if he is retiring).

In my view there is no way Hodgey will leave unless a Conference team comes in for him.

I have a feeling Eddie may be considering a permanent switch to 4-3-3 after the success against Hampton and Worthing. In that case both Cann and Smurf2 should be retained. The rumour is that Smurf2 is on his way as he does not like the travelling from Northamptonshire which is fair enough.

Hakki had an attitude problem and an injury problem. That was why he was never the most popular player.

Very Saddened at Velli's remarks about the Slough Fans...Support works both ways Velli...

Your were quick to forget that when you had your custodial sentence the Supporters supported you and also sent e mails and letters to you giving you support when it was most needed !!!

Then you followed Steve Brown !!! We were disapointed and did not coment about that ! Yet your were welcomed back ..given a individula song ! you got a bad injury and the supporters were willing you to get better and back to form...but lets be honest...it just did not happen for your own reasons....

We hope you are able to re capture your fitness and form...and next season prove we were wrong to let you go (on the pitch) not have a go at the supporters in the paper !!

Very well said Chris. He can be frustrated at his lack of first-team opportunities but that's not to say the fans weren't behind him and didn't want him to recapture his previous good form.
