Communication

I've just been on to the Eastleigh forum and their manager seems to communicate on there quite regularly i.e. exciting new signings in the pipeline / admission charges for next year / organising a mini bus for midweek and weekend games.

sounds like good communication between manager and fans to me and not always left in the dark.

Eddie has always been quite willing and forthcoming to talk to the local press, including the website, and when I've had time I've put the information up from Eddie which he's gladly passed onto us. What sort of information are you looking for?

In addition, I think you're confusing management of the club (Martyn) and management of the football side (Eddie) as there's been little news coming from the club management for some time. Could there not possibly be the argument that the STST is the same? That said, if there is no concrete news to announce, what exactly can be announced?

I have said it before, I think it would seem a little unprofessional to have Eddie on here every 5 minutes telling us what’s going on.

Eddies job is to manage the team and he does a bloody good job, if the club want to communicate with the fans then I am sure they will do it in a professional manner, through the appropriate channels.

A certain manager who has been in charge of two local clubs has previously been criticised for being unprofessional by posting on the forum of his club. Personally I agree and think Eddie is best off only communicating via the press and the website.

One that also annoyed all his supporters just before the end of season relegation 'play off'!?

Some times it can be of use if the manager knows what he's talking about... And doesn't say things which are not set in stone!

I read this and suddenly was hit by a terrible thought, what if the first time we knew that there was no Slough Town FC to face the new season was 2nd August, when the Windsor Chairman announced he had received no dosh for the rent and had reported this to the Ryman, who then kicked us us out.....and of course it was then be too late to do anything about it?

Shuddering doom stuff!

But then I thought it's not like that in our real world, thank goodness. The Management team love saying what a great bunch of fans they have, and I'm sure they really have no intention of treating us like mushrooms - ("Keep 'em in the dark and stir 'em up with a load of sh*t every so often".)

They would tell us the answers to the key questions:

1. Yes, the money for the rent is there, don't worry!

2. Of course we have enough cash for Eddie to put a team out.

3. We have a shirt sponsor for next season and will tell you who it is very soon.

4. Don't worry - if the answer to any or all of these was negative, we'd tell you what can be done by our loyal fans to fix it in good time, as we would actually like STFC to be up there in the Ryman next season, same as you.

We're sorry if you felt that we didn't think the fans mattered and any suggestion of us saying "Mind your own business - you wouldn't understand, little people!" is just a misunderstanding. We have some great plans for the new season, and Eddie will be announcing some great new players joining and a full programme of friendlies.

Then I felt much better and re-assured!

The Slough management must know that there are a lot of worried supporters concerned as to whether we have the money to pay Windsor and pay the players for next season.

If they don't realise this then someone should tell them because they will soon be asking for season ticket money and I am sure there are some fans who will not part with their money until they are reassured that we can start the season.

1)If we've got the money, then great, tell us

2)If we've been guaranteed the money by Deaner, then great, tell us.

I know Deaner originally said he would pay the money for 3 seasons but due to his absense it would be re-assuring to know that someone has spoken to him to confirm his original pledge.

I fear it could be one of the following:

1)Deaner is keeping a low profile and cannot be contacted

2)Deaner cannot promise anything until nearer the start of the season in which case if the answer is no, it will be too late.

Either way I think the very least we deserve is to be told where we stand because, as other people have stated, if it is the worse case scenario we have time to try to do something about it.

RR Martyn Deaner told us all last summer that if he continued with the club he would guarantee the money for next season. His absence is something of a concern and the trust board attempted to contact him for an "update" without getting a response. It is a worrying but there is not a lot we can do except continue to support the Trust and raise funds. The sponsored walk and race night were a good start which have raised a few thousand pounds.

If the Trust have tried to contact Deaner and have received no reply then this cannot be good news.

Assuming Deaner is an honourable man?? no news must mean that his intentions are to fund the club, providing he has the money, come August.

Does anyone know if Roy or Eddie or anyone from the management side of the club has tried to contact Deaner and if so were they successful and what was the reply?.

Unless the club/trust are confident that they have or can raise the balance needed to fund us should Deaner say no,(By the way, how much have we got left from our cup runs/fund raising... nobody seems to want to divulge this) I think it is imperative to know the answers to the above because the next two months could decide our future.

I mean this without trying to cause trouble but shouldn't you be more worried about the next season? No idea where you will be playing, who's funding you etc etc?

We don't know for certain who will be funding us for the coming season... and if the answer is nobody, we won't have to worry about the seaon after!!!

The programme notes from Roy in the last game suggest that Martyn hs reiterated his intention to support the club next season. We should focus our efforts on supporting the Trust as that will be our only hope if at any stage Martyn walks away.
