Segregation

Thank-you...This is a shame I feel, because the atmosphere seems to be better when the game is segregated. However, after Tuesday's performance (of the players and the crowd) I am sure the atmosphere will be pretty hot.

I was talking about segregation generally not just at our ground. If you force the away supporters into one small area of the ground they will make a lot more noise than if they are scattered around the ground.

Of course you are right Dave the covered end is much noisier, but We don't all stand behind the goal at home matches. Look at how much noise we made at Margate last year when they forced us into a small covered stand ( and I don't just mean my mother-in -law complaining about being caged in like animals )

Im not sure we can use the fact that an end is covered or not, or the fact that everyones together, in noise making issues.

If everyone sings to their vocal ability and the bloke with the drum uses the rhythm he seemed to have found at Woking then there will not be any problems. We just have to encourage for 90minutes, we should be alright then.

ps: im definitely not having a go at anyone here, all for one and one for all - so to speak.

As we well know Bateo after standing behind the goals for every game last year and all but Yeovil this year, The properties metal has at holding heat and reflecting sound waves far exceedes the clouds. If evryone sngs behind the uncovered end we would still get a good noise at least before the second half, when the sound does get a lot better.

Ah, the heat holding properties of metal...reminds me of my school days...the phrase is 'specific heat capacity'...I can only remember the exact value for water though.

As for sound - can it 'reflect' or is the use of that word reserved for dealing with light and vision subjects?

Must go, as these questions remain unanswered, so I'm going to 'ask Jeeves'.....

Sound waves are reflected or absorbed dependent on the material the waves are directed at .

The design of ,for example concert halls like the Royal Albert Hall , or theatres are dependent on the sound reaching the audience rather than being absorbed .The direction and texture of the surrounding materials is incorporated in the design of the space to maximise the noise travel .

You will all be delighted to know that as a solid wavey material , profiled steel cladding is reflective .

I thank you .
