Calling All Supporters

Recommended Posts

PERSONALLY, Anonymous, I think the club is just asking for support, and nothing wrong with that. This is, as you might possibly have forgotten, a fans forum, and as we are (mostly) fans and supporters we can respond to that request if we wish to show that support.

MFC has got it's act together by getting us involved. After all, as fans, we have a vested interest in the project - without us, why have a new ground anyway?

The reason the club have asked the fans is because this needs to be done next,if we can turn up on Saturday and get this done the sooner the next stage can begin,if they got a firm in to do this it may take another couple of weeks and yes we will be saving the club money.Spoke to KP today and he would like to know how many he can depend on also if there are any people who cannot get a wheelbarrow to the ground and you dont live miles away PM me and I will pick them up in my truck.

Depend on Zhukov and I, although we will be a little late as we have to take 3 pussies to the vet first.

We have wheelbarrow and tools at the ready, and will work like crazies to compensate for the late start, even though we are not exactly in the first flush of youth!

I think it will probably be great fun! Although I am not sure my back will agree afterwards.

I'll be there if I can make it, although I am not sure about the wheelbarrow.

I was at an event in the Charlton Clubhouse some years ago when all of their supporters turned up to clear the ground. The place was packed and it didn't to the club any harm - just the start of bigger things.

Hopefully we might make it the same.

I dont have a problem with the fans helping out. Itll definitely help the fans feel that they are part of the build. However I do find it a little hard to believe that Margates financial problems didnt push this decision.

Ive heard figures about the amount of debt the club owes...reaching into six figures.

A good number of years ago I was a football manager of a sports club that had a team in the Liverpool County Combination. We had two senior teams,a youth team in both the football and cricket sections. The ground was fully enclosed having a main stand and large clubhouse and bar with separate snooker and billards rooms and also had two outdoor bowling greens. During the daytime the bowling and snooker facilities would be well used by the many retired members who were essentially retired tradesmen, bricklayers, carpenters plumbers, plasterers and workmen.

One day a fire broke out and burned down the main stand and clubhouse. The place was a total ruin.

The following weekend everyone turned up at the ground. What happened next?

The retired tradesmen took off their flat hats, took off their jackets ,rolled up their sleeves and began the work of reconstruction. They organised and directed the work. They had all the younger members(20 and 30 year ods)doing this, doing that, going here, going there. The standard of the work was of the highest quality. In addition to rebuilding what had been destroyed they enlarged the clubhouse and even built two squash courts. No one complained everyone just got on with it.

When things returned to normal members still had their minor disagreements but those who had participated had total respect for each other.

They had enjoyed the experience because they were able, in some way, to help their club.

Particulary over the last twelve months there have been numerous people working for the good of Margate football club. They have done it not for reward nor praise but because they want to help their football club.

I welcome the opportunity to help on Saturday.

People are always moaning that the fans are the last to get to hear or know anything
