Charlie MacDonald.

Macdonald isn't actually as good as you think. He is an inconsistant finisher and is constantly plagued with injury. But when he has a good game he can be pretty lethal but don't get your hopes up because he ain't that good.

I have to say that having seen McDonald play for Charlton, Margate, and Crawley I have never been that impressed with him but I had similar views on Roy when he joined and looked what a great job he did still cannot see the logic in letting him go.

I spoke to a friend of mine the other day, a Charlton season ticket holder, who reckoned Charlie would prove to be a very tricky customer for all but the best Conference defenders. If we can get Manny fit, and another quality striker of that calibre, I can forsee a good season ahead.

The squad IS taking shape.

So far during the break, Liam appears to have been very busy, and on paper, has signed some very good players.

I'm looking forward to seeing the new line up and hopefully seeing us competing for promotion..! Still a long way to go in strengthening the team, but with new strikers and defenders we should have the minerals to be highly competitive for 05/06 season...!

I've spoken to three Charlton fans who all said that he was a good player but a touch to small to play in the Premiership, even though they thought he had the ability.

Is he smaller than Wright-Phillips?

Charlie Mac - nobody seems to rate him, I shall judge myself, but hardly sounds inspirational signing.

Danny Who? - Yes i know about drury and hatch but that is literally it! We do need to be signing players with conference experience.

Ive even forgotten the other signings.

truly pesimistic at the moment.

It all depends. I don't think you can just say "we need youth" or "we need Conference experience". It's not that simple. We have Conference experience, three years of it in many of ourplayers - yes another few with Conference experience might be good, but there are plenty of shockers with Conference experience out there too.

Look at Dagenham - Craig Mackail-Smith, Tony Boot and Chris Moore all signed from teams way down the pyramid, and all decent Conference players now.

So far, Daish's haul of Gooding, MacDonald and Slatter - almost before May is out - isn't a bad return, and nobody has been let go that leaves a yawning gap in the team.
