Mark Graham

Recommended Posts

Met up with Mark last Thursday evening, but we couldn't match his financial requirements and he advised us that he was signing for St. Albans last Friday anyway.

Did well for us last year and also played on loan at Stortford and I'm sure could do well at a higher level.

Any news - you know the sort of stuff: "Committed himself to the Saints", etc?

I seem to remember him being pretty good when he was here, didn't he also play on loan at Barnet in the Conf?
We need a better right winger than Matt Hann

His brother Richard plays for Barnet.

He was with us for a time but threw a strop because he wasn't making the first team. Doesn't seem to stay at one club very long.

Mark Graham featured for us in a pre-season game last season and really did impress. He appears to be one of these players who if given the opportunity will always impress, but I understand he's quite demanding.

I've attached a few news items from his week with us. I believe he could have been a Conference Championship winner last season with us, and he'll be an excellent signing for Saints. Will be good to see how he performs against his brother in our PSF....

Fairclough hoping to seal loan deal

Paul Fairclough is hoping to seal a loan deal for Mark Graham before Saturday's opening day clash with Forest Green Rovers. The Hornchurch right winger impressed in the 4-1 win over Borehamwood at the weekend and would compliment his younger brother, Richard, on the opposite wing. Should he be successful in securing the 29 year old's services, it's likely that he'll go straight into the team for Saturday, having performed so well at Borehamwood.

Graham available?

The Romford Recorder allegedly carried a story over the weekend suggesting that Gary Hill has stated that winger Mark Graham doesn't feature in his plans for the coming season. Mark featured in the Bees 4-1 win at Borehamwood on Saturday, despite confirmation from the club that an approach for the 29 year old had been unsuccessful. Hornchurch's financial position has been well documented and it's unlikely they'll let Mark leave on a free transfer should Barnet wish to sign him. However, the fact that he's available is encouraging with the new season only 5 days away.

Friendly: Borehamwood 1-4 Barnet

Barnet completed their pre-season programme with a convincing 4-1 win at neighbours Borehamwood on very hot summers afternoon. But it wasn’t all plain sailing for the Bees as for the third time during their pre-season campaign they had to come from behind. Paul Fairclough stated on Friday that he was looking to play virtually a full-strength team, but with Maddix, Plummer, King, & Lopez all out, there was little doubt that Fairclough would have to play players out of position and also utilise a couple of trialists. As a result, Simon Clist filled in at Left-Back and trialist Tom Champion, a local lad who was recently in the England Under 18 team, partnered Ismail Yakubu at Centre-Back. Dean Sinclair partnered Dwane Lee in midfield and once again demonstrated what a great acquisition he could be if Fairclough decides to offer him a contract. The strangest inclusion was that of Mark Graham, who is the elder brother of Richard Graham. It was reported on Friday that an approach for the Hornchurch winger had been unsuccessful, but he put in a good performance on the right hand side of midfield in the absence of Alex Meechan who is rumoured to have left the club, despite Fairclough describing the situation as "pending" on Friday afternoon.

The game itself was a very physical affair and we’ll have been lucky to come out of the game without injuries. Grazioli, in particular, was the target of a nasty challenge from behind and you wouldn’t have believed that this was a pre-season friendly as Wood got more and more physical as they struggled to cope with the attacking flare of the Bees.

Wood took the lead early in the 1st half when Tom Champion lost possession in his own six yard box, enabling Wood to open the scoring. The Bees dominated for long periods of the 1st half, but both Hatch & Lee squandered good chances to draw level, with the referee & linesman making some very odd decisions that didn’t really help the Bees cause. The second half was a pretty similar affair with chances coming and going for the Bees, but it wasn’t until Fairclough sent on Strevens & Roache that the Bees finally put the ball in the back of the net. In the 71st minute, a Richard Graham corner enabled Lee Roache to smash home at the back post. On 81 minutes, Ben Strevens headed home a Richard Graham cross to put the Bees into the lead. More goals followed as Roache completed a 20 minute hat-trick. The first, his second, was the result of a move between Nicky Bailey & Mark Graham, which Roache clinically finished. Just before the final whistle, Roache got his hat-trick with a great individual effort, spinning his defender and finishing following a pass from Dwane Lee, leaving stand-in Borehamwood keeper Ricky Millard with no chance.

The Bees fitness showed in the end and a 4-1 win is a good way to end the pre-season programme. The interesting thing will be who is offered contracts over the next few days as Fairclough finalises his squad for the coming season. With so much creativity in the Bees new look midfield, along with the re-inclusion of both King & Plummer in defence, Bees fans have a right to be optimistic if Fairclough can secure the services of two more players before the season starts next weekend.

1st Half Team: Gore, Hendon, Yakubu, Champion, Clist, R.Graham, M.Graham, Lee, Sinclair, Hatch, Grazioli

2nd Half Subs: Strevens for Grazioli, Roache for Hatch, Bailey for Sinclair

Two more trialists on show at Wood

Paul Fairclough included two more trialists in the team that played at Borehamwood on Saturday afternoon. Tom Champion is an 18 year old Centre-Back who has recently been included in the England Under-18 team and went to school at East Barnet. It’s understood that he got his chance due to Fairclough being unable to locate Lionel Djebi-Zadi, who had played at Centre-Back the previous week in the defeat to Northampton Town. The other trialist was 29 year old Mark Graham, who is currently at Hornchurch. The exciting right-winger is the elder brother of Bees star Richard Graham, although obtaining his services on a permanent basis may prove difficult as he is contracted to Hornchurch at present. It’s rumoured that Graham got his chance as a result of Alex Meechan moving on from the club, although nothing has been officially announced as yet.

Unsuccessful approach

Paul Fairclough confirmed on Friday afternoon that an attempt to bring in the services of Mark Graham, a right winger from Hornchurch, on a short-term basis had been unsuccessful. Mark is the elder brother of pre-season star Richard Graham.

Quite impressive with us before he ventured off to Hornchurch.

If he puts his mind to it will be an asset.

So Walshie has decided to go to greener pastures (Fisher), I hope they are not another Hornchurch, lucky if they get gates of 150.

Now Mark Graham and Matt Hann are both right wingers while Walshie was a left winger, so how does this work?

Somebody should tell Walshie that wandering around Bermondsey with a mullet is likely to get you beaten up.

Although I can't see any confirmation from either club, the conf south site has Graham with us and Walashe as departed to Fisher.

Bloody Essex gangsters must be running that club, they have a class team now and rarely get over 100 watching.
