Have Didcot been diddled????????

Recommended Posts

Level 5 to Level 4 promotion.

My undertstanding was that if your champs did not meet the criteria for, or did not want, promotion, then the second place team could apply if they met the standards and take part in a process to determine who was going up.

This is what happened with Didcot, but because after the appeals the FA decided all champs + Enfield would go up automatically, they were left with no one to play and were told to go away?

Have Didcot got any grounds for appeal????????

As i understand it the ryman league had an agreement with the F A that the top two clubs in ryman 2 would either be promoted or enter in the play off's. This was to be the last season that this agreement would be valid. The other two clubs that finished second in their leagues Didcot and winchester had no such agreement with the F A and then Walton casuals & lymington won their ground grading appeals thus cutting off the play off entry for promotion for Didcot & winchester ,leaving just Enfield F C as the only second placed club that remained elligible. Also as I understand it from my visit to borehamwood last season ( when enfield used to play there) that there was to be no relegation from ryman div 1 last season due to more league restructuring ,However the F A forced the ryman league into an about turn and enfield were put down,So In all fairness a wrong has been righted here.

I am still struggling to reconcile the position the FA has finally adopted to that of a week ago. Last week the spare space was to be filled by a play off between three runners up. One of those goes, because there champion side gets through on appeal. That's fair enough, but doesn't explain to me why the FA then went for 10 straight promotees. Either 9 champions or the tenth coming from the play off between Didcot and Enfield would be consistent. You have to feel sorry for the Vase champions, who may have won their league if they hadn't been so successful in the knock out competition.
