No Abbeyman, because attendances would rise as progress and success rise.I remember going to stevenage about fifteen years ago when they were in div3 of the Ryman. They had one tiny little stand and the crowd on the night was 96 (league game). They now have a great ground and crowds of well over 1500.Its the same with Rushden & Diamonds. Both teams the year before their merger were averaging gates of 50 in their respective leagues. With success ,bring a lot more fans.Don't forget Enfield is a massive place with a recognised non league fan base.300 watch Town 100 watch EFC ,that means there are at least 500 people who used to watch non league football in Enfield ,who no longer attend.Give them sucess again, and they will return. As you know,we used to get 3000 for round 1&2 FA cup matches.

Towns overall league & FA competion gates averaged about 280 this season.Next year i suspect around 320-340.Get promoted again, and the figure goes up.Get promoted again and the figure rises further.etc..etc.

ok BUT since the mid 70's Enfield FC, despite all their success, has never been particularly well supported - not by OFFICIAL attendances anyway ! Even in the APL hayday after the initial season it was a struggle to get over 2000 more like 700-800.

Figures might rise along with promotion but they soon tail off again after a while. Take a look at your own... despite the trophies that you have won, I believe that your attendances have actually been decreasing since your formation. Your guestimate for next season is still below that inaugural season. Football followers in the Enfield area have always been fickle!

Thus, my original comment still holds true (although judging by the way some of your attendances appeared to be over inflated this season anything is possible).

Q.E.D.

Your talking complete rubbish again,Abbeyman.Yes,Enfiled FC's average gate at Southbury Rd was about 700.The last time we had a winning season there ,1995, we averaged close to a 1000 .I remember going to a bog standard game against Basingstoke that season. The crowd was over 1500.Success brings people through the gate,If smaller towns like Stevenage can get regular crowds of between 1500-2000, from a starting point of less than 100 fans.Just imagime what a team with a base support of trebble that, could achieve. The borough of enfield has a population of over 250,000.Thats bigger than some teams in the championship, and probably bigger than a few in the premiership. Its a massive catchment area.

Towns attendences have been very stable throughout our 4 seasons in the ESL.An average a 250-280 is very respectable for a team playing in the minor leagues (with vertually no away supporters to add on to the attendence).I know plenty of people who having learnt that we will be in the Southern league next season, have shown a interest in attending next season. Some who havn't seen a game since Southbuty Rd was still up and running.

Regarding your claim that attendances in the league are inflated by season ticket holders that do not attend.Thats rubbish. Our cup attendances were even higher than our league attendances this season(where season tickets are not valid). When we got over 350 for a 1st round qualifier this season, then 3 days later got 235 for a league game.It shows that the public of Enfiled want to watch us,but were not overly keen to watch Town play in the Essex.

Also,i guarantee that our average attendence next season will be higher than in our inaurgral season.

Abbeyman, can you explain your last post. How did i diss you and how did i agree with you.?

I stated that ETFC attendances were about 700,but you were using that figure to dismiss the fact that Towns support could or could not grow ,if the club were successful.I said that other teams now have big crowds from a base of just 50-100.

Why don't you all discuss this in a gentlemanly manner on the Jolly Boys' outing at Burnham on June 26.
