Farewell .... and Welcome ...

Recommended Posts

Ah fellas. But all your reminiscing will not make a jot of difference to what happens next season.

There are so many variables to take into account at our level.

Let's wait and see shall we!

Oh and by the way.

Up the Boro of course.

LgeChairman,

I believe that common sense has prevailed at the FA. They have apparently scrapped the idea of reducing the number of Step Five leagues from 15 to 12. They are only going to scrap the Isthmian Division Two, so there will only be a reduction to 14.

I think this is good news, as it preserves all the existing leagues, and in a way strengthens them! This means that there will be no league versus league legal challenges and all that!

Unless they are in the promotion frame, both Clapton and Witham Town should come to the ESL for 2006-2007 and with a possible Hornchurch team, that makes 18 clubs!

If only White Ensign could improve their facilities enough....

I talked about promotion, there are actually 46 promotion places from Step Five to Step Four for next season. This is due to the creation of second regional division one for both Northern Premier and Isthmian.

The current thinking is that Northern League (6), North West Counties (6), Northern Counties East (6), Midland Alliance (4) and all other feeders will promote (2 clubs) to Step Four. It's doubtful whether the Northern League will provide clubs as they are out on a limb geographically.

Therefore, I think maybe extra Isthmian Two clubs will be promoted as most at least meet the ground grading for Step Four!

Some leagues will change their status. There is a merger between Devon and South Western Leagues, effectively bringing a Step Six division to the South West. The West Midlands and Midland Combination/Leicester Senior will be upped to Step Six, possibly with the MC expanding to include the LSL clubs/area.

The Central Midlands is also being upped to Step Six to feed directly into NCEL Premier.

The Hellenic and Combined Counties may have to re-organise their boundaries and form Premier, One and Two divisions as not all clubs will be able to get floodlights, so those leagues will cover Steps Five to Seven.

The only anomilies, particularly in the South East are ESL and Kent, where the respective feeders are two steps below and niether have provided promotion candidates in recent years. Hullbridge Sports (ESL) and Sevenoaks Town (Kent) were the last, I can't remember the ones before!!
