Farewell .... and Welcome ...

Recommended Posts

Dare I say for fear of being overuled or somebody slapping in an appeal but.... Farewell and the very best of luck to Enfield Town who now move up to the Southern League East and welcome to Tilbury who join us in 2005/2006. We also look forward to even more changes at the end of season 2005/2006 with the demise and disemmination to other leagues of the Ryman Div 2 and the FA's determination to reduce the residue of 14 leagues to 12.... watch this space !

Mr LC. Have you been on the gin again?

I will believe everything the FA says when the fixtures are out in June.

Only then will I confidently say, 'thanks for allowing us to start in your league'.

Regards

Southern League Div 1 East fixtures are due out on 14 July.

Also Mr LC, if you had read the back page of the Romford Recorder today you will have seen that we may even be joined in the ESL(subject to acceptance of course) by Hornchurch 2005 FC as it appears that the shareholders have decided to wind up the present club. (Read the report for the full details).

They are still trying to keep the new club in the Conference South which doesn't seem likely to all reports as it seems that Maidenhead Utd may have got a last minute reprieve instead.

So HFC 2005 have also hedged their bets by enquiring about a place in the Southern League Division One East. Is it possible that the FA will amend the structure of that league again after all the recent hassle?

Some chatter about it all on the Urchins messageboard.

But if all else fails the report surmises that it's the dear old ESL for them next season.

Great news - as I am sure we all want an even number of clubs in the constitution and trust that the F A will stand by their word when they told me last season that a club could come straight into a Step 5 league instead of starting at Step 7 so long as there was space and, of course, there are SEVEN places available in the good old ESL at present.

Only seven place MR LC.

I think a very aggressive recruitment campaign to fill those spaces seems to be in order in the closed season don't you.

Just leave it to us non-gentlemen to see how we can pull a few strings with our inland revenue mates over the next few weeks.

When do applications for the league for 2005/6 have to be in by?

A 22 team ESL next season.

Oh joy!
