AFC Manchester United......

a) global TV rights would dictate I am afraid. I cannot see any of the big guns losing support regardless. Arsenal v Norwich is hardly an A list match, but will still sell out.

B) Probably not but I don't think Redneck Glazer is too bothered about that. With the amount of debt he now has to recoup, all forms of traditionalism will be swept away.

c) Would they care?

FIFA could ban players from playing internationals so what would the big guns do? Get involved with the South American big guns and form their own World Cup.

If Kerry Packer could do it with cricket in 1977 then why not the global players now? I personally would hate it, but I can see it moving slowly down that autobahn.

I actually heard a bloke say "'ey oop!" yesterday (instead of "hello" or "good morning" to a bank cashier). It cracked me up.

It reminded me of the time on holiday in the highlands of Scotland some years ago with the Invisible Student (then the Invisible Boy) when we heard a lady open her remarks to a supermarket checkout girl with "Och the noo".

I do love a stereotype.

Funny thing was, I stepped out of the bank and who should walk past on the opposite pavement but Superman, in full kit. Really.

Similarly when I lived in Guernsey 30 years ago, everybody used to say good morning to you (only before noon, in case there are any smart arses about!). It was quite a moving experience initialy.

Also the first time I went to Burton Albion I walked in the pub outside the station and the barmaid said: "Alright me duck".

Very disconcerting.
