This is a mildly serious question by one not well versed in the art of pitch preparation,but with all the various layers of soil being deposited on top of each other;do we also import loads of earthworms to keep the soil aeriated, as surely there will not be enough existing earthworms- now proably 2 feet below the surface -to keep the new top soil well worked.

 

Can the fans thereby assist by digging them out from Pegwell Bay and depositing at HDP.(probably the wrong type of worm)

dear michael they are lug worms which only live in salt water mud or saltings. dont worry the earth worms will come to the surface once thers grass.

Thanks Geoff, i will now sleep tonight with that reassuring news;although i am still concerned that the poor things will have too far to climb to get to the new soil, and that there may not be enough of them.Mind you i think they breed quick but guess there's not much else to do when you are two foot underground
