Andy's Testimonial last night

Recommended Posts

Is anyone able to clarify who the two players without names on their shirts for the reds last night besides Shearer (i.e. Shinn and O'Donohue) are? Trialists or PASE players?

I had the pleasure of being at the game last night and at Highbury tonight, and to be honest Evertons performance matched ours in the last few games.

bereft of ideas, and very little attacking ideas.

Our circumstances , whilst poles apart financially, are not disimilar,

Evertons organisation has been there backbone this year, as all to evident tonight, without it they struggle. They have over achieved against bigger clubs on effort alone

Andy F was our organiser and motivator , and got us to over achieve with his organisational skills. ?

Can we keep it up , only time will tell ?

Up the Fleet

If anyone at the Fleet wants to put a programme together have a gander at an Arsenal one. It only costs 50p more !

Stragely, I felt a little flat as I travelled back to St Albans after the game. Too many of the present side played it in the wrong spirit (quite understandably). Those who were not retained couldn't be bothered, and the triallists and PASE lads were clearly playing for a full time contract. Funnily enough I was impressed with Groombridge, Moore and O'Donahue.

We were ally crying out for Portway to score one more goal at Stonebridge Road.

Why couldn't we give a penalty away? It was a testamonial for goodness sake.

I would have preferred a 6-6 scoreline than the competative 2-1 we got.

Drury stood out as a showboating, class act, playing the game as it was meant.

However, the weather was too cold, the crowd too sparse and the missing "star" guests too many in numbers left me feeling a little dissapointed for Andy.

Being the diplomat that he is, he will say he was pleased with the turn out. He deserved better.

Maybe a pre season game in July may have been better supported. we will never know.

Hopefully Andy can take a couple of thousand pounds from the game and treat himself and his wife to a holiday of a lifetime so that he has a tangible memory of his time at Fleet.

As I am in the audio industry, I am willing to meet with the club to arrange a new sound system.. I for one cannot stand the system at Stonebridge, and half the time the sound is distorted and inaudible..!! PM me if you are a member of the club's staff to arrange a meeting..!

O'Donohue was apparently a triallist from Heybridge, but can't find anything about him on Google. The other fella, I'm not sure.

That was Shinn, previously at Cambridge United and then to Heybridge. O'Donohue is from Tottenham.
