Players Released

Recommended Posts

Think most people would agree with this. In a certain system of play Roy would fit in well and would be an asset to the club even if he was`nt always 1st choice. Could it be something like this though (& I pulled the figures out of the air) : he has released a £500 per week player (Roy) but is keeping £250 per week one (Siggy) as a squad player with an eye to bringing in another strker.

ps I hear Roy may still be training with us at the start of the new season.

I still think that we should have held on to Roy until we found another striker and should have released siggy immediately. You could see he struggled every game, and was never, ever going to make a conference standard striker. He may have been a french international, but that was years ago, and boy does it show.

What can i say? Roy Leaving the Fleet.... I hope Liam as someone special to replace him & although Roy was unlucky and didnt score many Goals his hard work was 2nd to none i think we will miss his contribution next season. The future does look good though for next season and Pullen wont be cupped tied which means we wont have to put up with Wilkos Banana kicks any longer.

Good to see that Proths, Skins, Jacko and Ben have signed new contracts.

Fleetbabe I am in 100% agreement with you (is this a Slarti moment) I am particularly pleased about Jacko as I feared he might be a casualty.

I am a bit dissapointed about Roy as I feel his lack of goals was as much due to the absence of quality crosses as to any failings on his part, mind you I am as fickle as the next man and the moment we sign a better centre forward I will forget all about Roy.

Agree we should bring back Walshe and Owen, but would need to see more of Perks before forming an opinion.

No Walshe, he had serious problems with that all-important winger's job: crossing the ball. As for Owen, I would welcome his return; he always gave his all for the Fleet. Finally, there can't be many amongst us who wouldn't wish Perkins to return. He was one of our best players last year and scored some excellent goals (v Notts County and Accrington spring to mind).

Not one who believes in critising the manager, especially when this is his first summer.

But I can think of three others who could have been released first Siggy, Pinnock, Surey. They just haven't impressed me in their extended run in the team at the end of the season.

I wait with bated breath to see what new strikers Mr Daish brings in.

Would love to see any of Walshe, Owen & Perkins back though.

Perhaps you'd care to remember his corners and get back to us on that. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I'm pleased with all the new contract signings, particularly Jacko (see above). Although Surey was perhaps a surprise, we know from his play at the end of last season that he's a reasonably competent Conference player.

What short memories some people have.

As noted before, Surey made the England Non League Team, and I think most fans were in agreement that his performances at the time warranted the call up.

It seemed that the injury he picked up then affected him badly in the latter part of the season.

Whilst it may seem a bit of a gamble taking him on with a new deal, if he returns to his early season form, it is certainly justified.

Would be nice to know if any of the 4 signed full-time contracts? My guess is maybe Ben Surey would be full-time.

Indeed Alan, people have short memories about Ben - he was picked for the England semi-pro side and is the sort of player that would really benefit from full-time football.

As for Drury last night - it may have only been a kick about but his a class-act - it amazes me how Football League Clubs on our doorstep manage to overlook him, along with other past talents such as Bullard.

jesus h mr daish. You suck. I doubt you will bring in players anywhere near the quality you have released given your "eye" for a player/substitutions/tactics. Thanks for nothing. RESIGN.

If walshe, owen, or perkins came back, it would not be your idea, as they have been great players in the past. You probably used the testimonial as a scouting game you mug.

I am absolutely gutted at the way you handle club affairs. I fear for our conference status next season.

shaka and stone have been released from pompey.

Steady Chills, it's only May! Other than not release Sigere, Daish hasn't done anything I wouldn't have done so far. If we don't get another striker, then it's time to moan, but until then I'll wait and see who we get.
