...Wigan on their promotion. Have mixed memories of going there with Romford in the FA Trophy back in 1973. Missed the special train (alright three carriages - drunk), got directed to the Rugby League ground when I did finally make it, lost 2-0, Terry Tapping sent off for almost decapitating a home forward, nearly got stabbed at the final whistle. But still here to tell the tale.

All good fun and would love to see them rub a few noses of the elite.

Can't remember the exact year EFC played them in the Trophy, maybe 1975. I seem to recall the coach driver heading for the rugby league ground and the pitch being under water when we arrived. It took Wigan three games to win it, at least one of which I missed having inconveniently contracted an appendicitis! Oh, that rubber glove brings back painful memories!!

can remember being @ Springfield Park for a cup tie when they were non-league and they played Sheff Wed, was a riot, and we left early to avoid what turned out to be a massive fight.
