Fixtures for Next Season

Recommended Posts

We have been told for the last few seasons that the reason fixtures for the whole season could not be issued in one go was because of uncertainty over free dates at Brimsdown for ETFC matches. Well now they have been promoted, can we have a full league programme issued before the season starts?

Come on Mr League Chairman. Let's be 'avin you!!

With the advent of Tilbury coming in and Eton Manor sharing with them, I don't think rocket science should come into the equation.

But, what happens if White Notley or White Ensign come in and do they share with non ESL sides? No doubt information, truths, half truths and rumours will keep us intrigued during the closed season.

Yes if there is one thing both the Fixture Secretary and myself want for next season it is a full season's fixtures - so look forward to it ! By the way, I am afraid that White Ensign will not be coming to us next season having not applied formally to various bodies that need to know by the due dates. Nevertheless, they have a list of improvements they have to make for our league at entry " F" and we can only hope that they will accomplish these and join us in 2006. AS for the rest..... ie Enfield Town going up and Tilbury coming down - I know as much as all of you at the moment .. we await news from the FA ?

Just one thing LC!

The FA will only let the ESL have 22 teams for next season so please don't get carried away.

By the way, I read in today's NLP that the Combined Counties are in all sorts of difficulties because of this new ruling as they have traditionally had 24 teams in their top division in recent times.

If only. Eh!

So where are White Ensign from and shouldn't they have a name conducive with their conurbation?

So where exactly is Arsenal? Raith? Celtic? TNS? Airbus? Corinthian? Pegasus? Eton Manor??? Where exactly in London is the Borough of Apsa? Is there a suburb of Crewe called Alexandra? Since when has Plymouth been in Argyll?

Crystal Palace burned down years ago, so shouldn't they change their name to Burned Patch on the Grass or something?

The Trades Description Act should also apply. Is there really a Villa in Aston? Is there a Pennant in Leyton? A forest in Nottingham? Why are Sheffield Wednesday allowed to play on Saturdays?

I accept that there is probably a thistle in Partick, and also in Buckie. But Stockport is not a county.

Erm... Raith Rovers play in Raith Park. I know that's part of Kirkudbright these days, but your argument would suggest that Brimsdown Rovers can't call themselves Brimsdown because they play in Enfield. Apsa are actually London APSA, so London is their conurbation. Crewe and Plymouth are in Crewe and Plymouth respectively, whatever the second half of the name.

BTW, your argument against Crystal Palace keeping their name suggests that any club called "United" should drop the "United" part because the clubs which united to form it no longer exist. And the final site of the Crystal Palace is no longer a burned patch on the grass, come to think of it.

Anyway, the conurbations argument will run and run, and you'll get clubs changing names, as Hampton did, just in case the rumours are true, but it will be far to complicated a system to police. As far as putting it into practice, Pegasus might fly!
(phew, got there in the end!)
