I thought Gleds was joining the Met Police... and in doing so meant he could no longer play for us..?

Apparently th eproblem is not so much that he is not allowed to play for us, but that he wouldn't be available all the time as his police duties come first, this would mean that he would not be available every saturday and would be unlikely to be available for training.

 

If this is right this means that we would have to find a player as good as Gleds to cover when he is not available, and if you find this other player, then perhaps Gledhill become surplus to requirements.

I see, and I guess shift rotation would also jeopardise his chances of being remotely alert enough to be competitive..!?!

He is s good player, always rated him (in the main) and being a copper will certainly suit him..!

The obvious point is when joining the Met you start off with 3 months intensive training. There would be no time to train & very little to play as weekends are taken up by study. The first posting would probably be in some out of the way London Borough where as a rookie no-way would he be able to take liberties with time. I doubt he would have time to play for any senior club for a year.
