The thing you're on about is the EMA...basically a way for the Govt to avoid giving money in benefits.

 

If you stay n aftyer 16 they will pay you a certain amount depending on your circumstances...say if youre in the worst catagory you get 30 quid and if you are relatively better off you can only claim 10. But then you can use it however you want...even paying towards the bills.

 

If you earn enough you wont be able to claim...its around 30,000 total income. Check out the Department for Work and Pensions.

 

The reasoning is that most kids in innercity areas cant afford to stay on in education and the Govts trying to give them enough to stay on...it also helps the Govt because it keeps kids off the streets...arent we the lucky ones.
