TRUE BLUE IN ST ALBANS!!!!

Recommended Posts

Well, after eight years of being embarrassed to call myself a St Albanian, Conservative rule returns to our fine cathedral city of Verulamium.

It was 4.19am this morning when I awoke to the sound of a text message from staunch leftie Colin Toms to inform me that Anne Main had gained the UK's most sought-after seat - wonderful news that saw me leap from my bed and wake both my wife and son with my jubilant dancing.

As I skipped into work this morning, the air around me smelt sweet. Like the northern fog we'd been subjected to over the last eight years had finally lifted.

Of course, I partly blame myself for Labour sneaking into the seat in 1997. Some of you will not know that I moved away from St Albans in 1994, and without my guidance, the City seemed to lose its way a bit.

I didn't return to St Albans again until mid-2000 - arguably too late to prevent northern monkey Kerry Pollard winning a second term the following year.

But since then, a fair few of us here on Non-League UK have been bidding tirelessly to get a decent party back into this constituency, and on behalf of Gertcha, Costello, Laz, CANV and myself, I'd like to say thank you for listening to our months and months of campaigning, showing trust in our words, and voting the best party in the country back into the best city in the country.

Congratulations too to fellow users of this board in Hornchurch, Billericay and Braintree, all of whom secured Tory seats for their constituencies. Your support will be rewarded.

Maintained their position as well in the Castle Point seat.

it's not fair, I only got to vote in Edinburgh and not St. Albans

Actually, I have a question.

Is it right that I get two votes?I voted in Edinburgh and I had a postal vote in St. Albans.

I didn't get to use the postal vote as it was delivered to my home address and not my flat up here, so I missed the deadline.Surely it can't be fair that I can vote twice?

Ever thought about why the voting form and counterfoil have the same reference number printed on the back of both of them and your personal voting reference number is then written on the front of the counterfoil by the voting clerk as you are handed your voting form by the other clerk.

Secret ballot my @rse. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

Yeah because we love being associated with them places!!!!

Maybe Anne Main could go out on the piss with us, if somebody is willing to send her directions to St.Albans.

No doubt Kerry Pollard will continue to serve the people of St.Albans like he did before he was MP and afterwards when Anne Main has moved back home.
And it was the huge swing to the Lib Dems that got the Tories in.
