receivership

obviously it is too late for the FA to act now but rules must be changed to stop clubs pulling a fast one like margate have and going into receivership so late in the season when they would have known along time before the financial state of the club and waiting to see if they where allready relegated before making the decision obviously advice was taken from Keith Piper it is a pity that a deadline date is not set for clubs loosing points for that season this should be amended that those points are deducted the following season

just because they have different names doesnt mean they are different people. Best thing these people can do is sod off, if they dont want to support the team then they shouldn't post on this forum in the first place

To Peter Davies. You cant be more wrong. I can see why you are feeling dubious but there is PROOF that this was not intended. This club has not abused the rule they have HAD to use it to maintain our exsistence. But you have no proof whereas the club do, that it was only last Tuesday that this came about. There is absolute proof that this was not pre-medtated and if you want to see that proof for yourself, like I have seen, then you wouldnt be so quick to judge. Am sue Keith would be only too willing to show you that proof if you ask him. Maybe then you will be sensible with your comments and apologise for abusing this club.

Try not to assume things. It is foolheardy to do so without the facts.

Just because other clubs think it is proper to use these rules to their advantage at this stage in the season pleae do not assume that that is the case with this club. You are wrong in you assumptions. FACT! Apology later eh!

Should have read RE;Peter Davies. Sorry.

Mind you he should be ticking himself off for remarks that he made without the true facts at hand to back up his words of condemnation.

Why should the FA act?? What Margate FC have done is the sel same thing that hundreds of businesses do every year. It's not illegal, immoral or anything else beginning with "i". It's business and that's that! Still I can only put these daft posts down to the fact that it's open season on Margate FC and it's fans, but as far as verbal "hunters" we only get the Elmer Fudds!

From the spelling and grammar and no punctuation whatsoever I'd say anon is having chats with himself and inventing different names in order to do so. They say the first sign of madness is talking to yourself. I'd simplify this ( and there's been more than enough proof on here lately ) by saying they're just f*****g idiots. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/tongue2.gif" alt="" />

It's not illegal or immoral it's part of business life today. It also has nothing to do with any one outside of your club apart from the creditors, the board and you the supporters.

So why do I comment, well because I want to wish you good luck and say do not bite at those who want to wind you up. There are the few idiots at every club and one-day they will realise that without the rival clubs we have not got a game.

Good Luck

H

I feel I need to jump in here to clarify one thing. Margate isnt in receivership. Margates in administration. They are completely separate things.

With administration the club remains but external accountants and other people come in to try and put the situation right...in this case try to negotiate a repaying scheme that keeps the club in existence but pays back the money owed.

With receivership, the club closes down and everything is sold off to pay for the money owed. This occurs when the administrators say there is nothing they can do to save the company...for example with MG Rover, the administrators came in but couldnt save the company so the receivers came in and sold off the rest of the company to pay off the money owed.

I dearly hope the receivers dont get the call. At this stage there is still some hope, but the club is one step from being closed down.

The two points about the use of administration are actually both right. Its not very good busines ethics to go into administration to avoid paying back the money you owe...after all the money you owe is money that may pay for somebody's mortgage.

I think the club is genuinely in financial dificulties, to put it lightly. The club owes large sums of money and cant really pay it back without endangering the club.

How much does the club owe then?

I wonder who the creditors are -

Ashford FC

Dover FC?

Players

Inland Revenue and VATman

if players havent been paid it looks like TonyM will have to scout around at Jackey Bakers on a Sunday for next seasons Team, no i dont think that will happen Margate wouldnt play Sunday League players according to TonyM,so it will be the end of Margate FC.

I dont know how much is owed. Enough for a football club to call for administrators, which means they owe a lot. Ive heard tens of thousands being owed, but Im sure its got to be more than that.

I think the Archeological Trust are owed a fair amount of money. I also know that they went to Cabinet at TDC recently to ask for some money to pay for an exhibition...they didnt have the money to pay for its set up by itself. I wouldnt be suprized if they were the ones to demand the money in that letter to the Club.

The only way we will really know is if the Club tells us...which isnt likely. They would have to release their financial records, which under law the club is under no obligation to do.
