Promotion on hold

Recommended Posts

Well, it would certainly knock ou Winchster, EFC and Didcot if one or either club's appeal is upheld. Why the f*** did the FA put out a statement confirming the promotions if it was not guaranteed!?

So, either teams that were in the play offs will be told to sling their hook if one or more appeals are successful. One sucess and its pretty much as you were for the champion teams; two and its all back to the FA's velvet bag for all of us!

Oh deep joy.

I think its only fair for the champion clubs to get in if they get the chance. In my opinion if they have one the league they deserve to go up. I feel sorry for the second placed clubs who thought they had been saved but I feel the best team deserves to go up.

If the two teams who are now appealing win their appeals, then the only course left is to say goodbye to Didcot, Winchester and EFC and let the two teams play each other. No need to retract the places for the 7 teams who have already won their leagues and have the ground grading in position.

Simple. Mind you, there is a y in the day of the week

Worst case senario.

walton and Lyminton win appeals.Leaving 9 league winners for 8 spaces.meaning 7 would get byes with two teams drawn to play off against each other for the final place.

Or will Walton and Lyminton have to play off between themselves. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Someone needs to get a grip of non league football, because its [****!!****]-up after [****!!****]-up,year after year

The FA have been in contact this afternoon to say that all promotion is on hold pending the appeals of Walton Casuals and Lymington & NM which are to take place next Tuesday. Saturday's play-off at Enfield has been postponed.

So exactly how many appeals are Walton Casuals going to be allowed - they've already appealed once. This one could run till next Christmas!

How are the 7 clubs who have been told that they have promotion able to keep their squad together for play offs which cannot happen for another 10 days or so.

ETFC played as they thought their last game last Monday are the players expected to turn up tomorrow for training for a possible match on Saturday week!

If Walton and Lyington win their appeals the only reasonable solution is to extend the leagues. Playoffs at this stage are a non starter!

I'd guess you'd have to see the letter sent out by the FA to each of the 7 'promoted' clubs (if there was one!). Of course the FA are bound to have some kind of clause in their constitution which would permit them to change their decision....And of course we could doubtless appeal if any new decision adversely affected us!

Let's be grateful that it isn't the spineless Ryman League this time. Hopefully the FA will either dismiss any appeals (with a water-tight legal explanation to prevent involvement of the courts) or leave the present promotion/play-off situation as is with the promotion of any other League Champions.

Its never smooth sailing as an ETFC fan!
