What a load of fuc....

Hi Gaz

I Know this is none of my business as such but the people that booed at the end of the game surly can't be true supporters.

Your club has had a great season and a play off is a real "one off".

Were they perhaps glory hunters just there on the night.

Having said that they might be the type that get on my train in the morning looking down thier noses at those already on the train from Hockley, Rayleigh, Wickford etc.

By the way your bio thingy. Death on two legs by Queen from Night at the Opera I belive?

I really hope they were not the real supporters. There are two things im sure i will never do as a Ricay fan, one is leave early, the other is boo the team off. As someone above said, i hope the players read this message board and realise that the majority of fans appreciate the effort of the whole season, and the booing wasnt a reaction to that. I always hope that with our fans, most of the players will feel proud playing for the club, and enjoy it. I hope that doesnt change after last night. Roll on August.

Well, folks, I know we all say things in the heat of the moment, especially after such a gutting defeat, but surely as optimistic as we were going into last night's match, we must have realized that we could just possibly lose and should have been ready for that possibility ? I for one and a very few others near me stopped to applaud the players off, tough as it was at the time emotionally, but we were in the vast minority. I didn't hear the abuse from where I was (Cowshed) but it is very upsetting. If we'd finished say 8th in the league and knew last saturday was our last game, I'm sure we would all have given them a decent ovation for their efforts whatever the result, but because of the "cup-tie pressure" situation, well, the reaction is different. It would be nice to read a few apologies on here over the next few days.

I would like to thank all our players and the management for getting us into the position where we had a chance of going up. Even if it brought on the old stress problem, thank god I don't have to go through another game.

I hope that we can keep this team together, as I believe that we can make it next year. If they had been together at the start we would have won the league.

It is also how you handle losing! Nobody likes it but people like a bad loser even less!

For any of you that read the papers there is a really good point made by Alan Smith ex Gooner today that refers to Liverpool supporters and how he will always have a soft spot for the sporting way in which they applauded the Arsenal players when they won the Championship at Anfield some years ago!

I am sure the Leyton Players especially their Keeper will not look back with anything but pleasure at rubbing our nose in it as to be totally frank the way we reacted to them winning was diabolical!
To be honest the vast majority of BTFC fan's were gracious in defeat, and your keeper who got light hearted stick from us was superb at the end and a real sportsman, it was only really the fat skinhead in the BTFC shirt that was a disgrace he wanted to fight our keeper and reserve manager what for? we did not think we would be in the play off's but we have taken our chance, I can't believe the stick we have taken from some quarter's, we may not have a great support yet but people must realise that we were an intermediate club five years ago and have come a long way.

I think it's a shame that some supporters reacted in the wrong way to our defeat yesterday. People are always entitled to their opinions of course but I think you generally gain more respect if you can put them in a civil manner rather than a mindless torrent of abuse.

Why haven't we gone up?....We lost a play-off game, we didn't start the season well enough, we lost key players to injury,we didn't get the results we needed in the big games, a combination of all of these and maybe a few more who knows. It's a shame, the way the Ryman is shaping up for next season it looks like being a very difficult league with lots of local derbies and some good teams coming up. I think perhaps three or four changes in squad personnel would be sufficient to mount another serious challenge next season.

Let's look at the big picture. We are a billion (at least) times better off than we were 18 months ago and have competitive teams at all levels right through from the boys to the first team. We have a great new clubhouse and possible other improvements in the pipeline.

I would suggest that the club is on the most stable footing it has ever been on.

Lets look forwards not backwards

I don’t usually contribute to the forum even though I have a look (and a chuckle!) at it several times throughout the working day. However, I have now sufficiently recovered from last night and feel the urge to give my two pennies worth today…..

With regards to the game last night I think that we battered them for the first 20 minutes and should have had at least 2 goals. After that, Leyton dropped deeper & deeper and we struggled to break them down – as we did against Chelmo, Worthing and Yeading at home recently. We then resorted to pumping the ball up the pitch and trying to feed off the scraps. We’re probably the best footballing team in the division so I wonder why we do this? Frustration, inexperience?

After the penalty the writing was on the wall wasn’t it? And when they scored again we all knew we would struggle to get back into the game.

So, why did the fans go so quiet after the 2nd goal? Why did they start getting on the backs of the team? Well, football is an emotional game and I think the sense of disappointment just overwhelmed some people. Whilst I think that slagging off the team during a match is inexcusable, I can understand why people voiced their opinions to some players as they were leaving the pitch.

So, where do we go from here? Well, I think that Justin is definitely the man for the job. He had to work on a shoestring last season and it was no wonder he tried to escape a couple of times. I think one of the best decisions Rod Moore ever made was not accepting his resignation. We’ve got a young Manager with a wealth of professional football experience. He is clearly respected by the players and now he has some funds (compared to last year when I think even I could have got a game at one point) I think he will continue to build the playing side of the club. He has some big decisions to make during the next 2 months. He needs to be ruthless and ship out a couple of players who, whether we love or loathe just aren’t good enough for this standard of football. What is the alternative to Justin? Some 50 year old Manager that has been doing the rounds for years? No thanks.

I have no doubt we’ll be stronger for last nights experience. From the Chairman down, the management at the club seem to know what they are doing and I trust them. Compared to the situation we were in at this point last year we’ve made great strides and we have to believe that one day we will win something. Whoever you support that’s what you have to believe isn’t it? Otherwise whats the point!

You have to experience the bad times to enjoy the good ones. But the way I feel today I just hope the good times aren’t too far away!

Agree it's time to compliment Steve Kent for what he's done for BTFC. Sure we're all disappointed with last night's result but cast your minds back 18 months or so. At that time the season we've had was just a pipe dream.

Steve, you have done a great job and you have done it with dignity, good humour, and good business sense. Shame about the reaction of some people to the Leyton result but please don't let it undermine what you have done and what you are trying to do. Let's look on this season as one where we got ourselves established on a firm base; one from which we will certainly move on to bigger things.

Once again, thanks for saving the club and restoring some of the old pride and atmosphere.

Alice

I agree with most of the comments already made. It has been a good season. Whatever happens we will be up their again next season. We need to get rid of a few who aren't good enough and a few who don't play their heart out for the club. With a few new players and Danny Hockton back we will be even stronger next season.

We need the fans to stick with the club and get behind the team. Every fan has the right to rant about the club or the players, but there is a time and a place. The Braintree performance away was diabolical, but no one went over to have a go at the players at the end, so why last night? Everyone put it behind us and got on with the next game, which is what we need to do and look forward to winning the title next season.

this time around I'll also give the aggravating ozzie the benefit of the doubt...his post I think was meant to be as positive as he can get where ricay is concrened...

anyway...fck em all and look on the brightside.....

you won't have to suffer the indignity of getting shafted by us next season....

Unable to attend the match due to other committments ( like many others judging from crowd)

Really disappointed to catch up with the score and find we lost. From what I have read the scenes after match were a bit unpleasant.

People have short memories, have they forgotten those tremendous performances against Stevenage and Exeter ?

Macca and others have played 50+ games as well as trying to earn a living ( compare with overpaid pampered premiership players who like to be rested)

We have had great season tinged with disappointment at the end. Steve Kent has worked hard to stabilise a sinking ship and we should look to build on that next season

I have to say I was one of those who refused to clap the boys at the end of the game. People here seem to think that must mean I'm not a real fan. I appreciate the team has had a great season and credit to the players and management for that, but the great season means nothing in real terms now.

However it wasn't the fact that we didn't win that stopped me clapping. It was the manner of the defeat. There was little passion shown and some showed none.

Forbes was getting booed (which was wrong admittedly) because he wasn't going in for tackles and much of the time just seemed to be ball watching which is unacceptable. He either didn't want to or was unable play out there and so should have been substituted. He may be able to play a great ball every now and then but how many bad touches did he have in that game?

If we had lost but played well, or even lost but competed that would have been disappointing but O.K. But to play well all season and then just not compete in the crucial game was soul destroying.

Still will be back next year.
