Thurrock out

Thurrock went out 2-4 tonight to Eastbourne in the play off.

Thurrock missed several clear cut chances, (Brayley missed in the first minute - good save though) before Austin scored with a long range shot (11) - Thurrock dominated the first half, and Poole levelled with a penalty (40), and McFarland (my Conference player of the season) headed home from a corner almost on half time.

Kris Lee missed a completely open goal just seconds into the second half, and then Atkins headed an unexpected equaliser (58).

Goal of the season, apart from Jamie's sensational goal at St Albans, came when Tuck (left back) standing about ten yards from the touch line and almost on the half way line, sent in a screamer which swerved past the keeper and into the net - must have been from over 45 yards.

Shipp came on, but made little impression, and in stoppage time Ramsey made it four.

Attendance not announced but I would guess at 303 max.

Thurrock have now covered the entire side of the ground, and have also put in three rows of seating along part of that side.

And you won't be playing Braintree after tonight's result.
