I haven't had time to sort out pictures or count the money we were given today which I'll do later but I wanted to say thanks to a few people following the walk to Worthing which finished today. Apologies for this sounding like an acceptance speech at the Oscars but a huge thanks to.......

......all the people who pledged money beforehand, at the Heybridge game, the race night and today before the game and halftime.

Gary (Thomas) for acting as our walk correspondent and providng updates on the forum.

To Chris (Sliski) and the Supporters Trust for their help and for contributing towards the cost of our overnight accommodation and for the present (champagne) when we got to Worthing. Apologies also to Liam for me emptying said present all over the clean shirt he'd been saving for three days!

To Worthing FC for their announcements at halftime and allowing us to walk around the pitch.

To Roy (Merryweather) and the Rebels players for organising the fantastic presentation at the end of the game and the plaque's we were given.

To all the supporters who greeted us when we arrived for the fantastic reception we got.

To Kevin McCabe, Ray Copper and Dave Carpenter who were all involved in the mini cab service from Guildford back to Staines and vice versa. Also to Dave for arranging the 'congratulations' cards for all those who did the walk.

To my wonderful wife, Kay, for her fetching and carrying over the last three days. Even before leaving for the game today she'd driven to Bramley twice, Findon three times and Worthing six times helping plan the route and ferrying our bags around. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/cuddle.gif" alt="" />

Finally, to Graham, Liam, Martin, Mark and Dominic for your support and companionship over the last few days. There was no way I could have walked all that without you.

Thanks to all. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/top.gif" alt="" />

Ian, I think it is the other supporters and trust members that should be thanking you and the other five. I don't think words can describe the efforts you went to (Kay included) in getting this sorted and done.

True legends, all of you.

a champagne soaked shirt and sunburn are the least of my worries after walking 60 miles. Thanks to everyone for helping us out and donating money, it makes it all worthwhile <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif" alt="" />

The way we were greeted at Worthing was quite wonderful and helped after three long days. The players presentation was very special (anyone else notice that I got mine from the Player of the Season - just thought I'd point that out)!

A couple of personal thank you's

Ian and Kay for there organisation, pre-planning and general support over the three days, it wouldn't have been possible without them. (Ian are you sure it was only 4.4 miles between Adversane and Thakeham though!!!!!).

Kevin and Dave for the lifts on Thursday night, I didn't fancy the Staines-Bramley overnight trek!!!!!

After hearing of BFR's tactic of using the wonderful Craig Lewington for inspiration on Thursday, Mr Luke Fontana really helped me through today as I chanted relentlessly about his brilliance.

ROADKILL in general, 2 foxes, 1 badger and 1 duck more specifically plus a UFR (Unidentified Flattened Roadkill) which may have once been a rabbit. Pictures will hopefully soon be available on Liam's Straw Donkeys website.

To my walking buddies, Liam 'SUNBURN' Roche, Ian '[****!!****] JOKE' Lathey, Graham 'OH MY GOD LOOK AT HIS FEET' Taylor, Dominic 'MONKEY BOY' Ashford and Martin 'YOU CAN TELL HIS MOOD BY THE TIME OF DAY' McCabe. Awesome, one and all.

Thank you once again and see everyone soon.

P.S. one last non-walk related thank you to Alan Harding as he let me sponsor Leigh Mason for next season already so that I can beat the Barmy Army to it. Thank you Alan.

Whilst on the theme of thank yous, would just like to add my own. Thanks to Roy for the flowers and to everyone who supported the lads over the last few days. Well done to all of them, fantastic achievement. I was really pee'd off on Thursday morning that I wasn't going with them, but on reflection I think I made the right choice.

There are lots of people who deserve thanks and praise, but nobody deserves it more than Kay Lathey for the support she has given to the walkers. Driving up and down from Slough to ferry our bags to different destinations, putting breakfast in our fridge for Thursday morning, metting us at the pub on Friday to show us the Slough Observer and on a personal note, rescuing me when the feet gave up after 50 miles. You are a legend Kay and the unsung hero of this walk. Thank you so much.

I can only echo the words of my fellow walkers. Thanks:

To everyone for the sponsorship and the kind words and encouragement particularly at the Cup Final because it was really needed and appreciated.

To the management and the playing staff for Thursday and Saturday. It would have been impossible had we lost the cup final and the presentation on Saturday was very special.

To the Trust and the supporters for our welcome - the pain went away for a while.

To the Lathey family for the back up throughout the walk and for all the preparation that went into the trip.

To BFR for his single-handed heroics on Wednesday and Thursday and for having some cool beers waiting at Bramley.

And finally to all my fellow walkers - I think you all know how badly I was struggling on Friday at about four o'clock. It may not have been obvious at the time but without you guys I would never have made it.

To echo the sentiments of everyone else:-

I think you have all done a superb thing, and should be rightly proud of your efforts! When it was mentioned I hoped i could join you but work intervened.... HOWEVER, I honestly cannot imagine managing 1/2 what you guys did and i personally am so impressed by what you all acomplished!!

Blimey, Martin, if the pace you set in that last couple of miles on Friday was you struggling, remind me not to try and keep up with you when you're ok!

What was interesting on this walk was how much more difficult it is from a psychological perspective to walk on long roads. Our distance on Friday was only 3 miles more than Met Police but was so much harder as we were only on three roads. Well that and the fact we'd walked the day before, obviously.

Met Police was easy (relatively) as there was convenient check points at Datchet then Wraysbury, Staines, Laleham, Shepperton, Walton etc. but when you're just walking on one road for miles and miles and miles it's a bloody killer without knowing how far you are from the end.

Noted for future reference and next year's walk! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
