....... i have to take my hat off to people who support clubs with hardly any fans.

That is a very interesting comment Brighton Rebel - it shows, in a way sadly, how much money matters in the game. There are a fair number of clubs higher than us in the pyramid, who have very small support, yet are able to keep going. And our excellent support and the gate money it generates were not enough to keep us out of trouble in terms of keeping our ground and funding a team. We still need a sponsor!

To me, Cheshunt is a case in point. at the beginning of the season Amber Nectar (May he rest in peace !) was on here talking about what a fabulous ground they were going to get, and how they were going up, despite a very small fan base. Now in only part of a season, they are struggling and may not avoid relegation, their successful beginning of the season team is broken up and the Council have re-possessed their ground and they are on a month by month tenancy arrangement. Why? Because the money disappeared. Had it not lost this, they might well have been up in the Conference South, but with no fans. Yeading are not dissimilar to this, but with an excellent manager and successful team, but again, few fans.

Ultimately it seems that teams at whatever level can be successful even without support, provided the cash is there, but woebetide them if the benefactor gets bored. Give me the atmosphere of a decent crowd and committed fans, even if we don't matter to the money men!

That's why even though I hate the team, I have a sneaking regard for the MU fans who are trying to buy enough of a stake to be able to see off dodgy characters like Glazier. They really want it to be THEIR club, like AFC Wimbledon. So it will be a long haul for us, but support the TRUST must be the message!
