BRYCO CUP FINAL MATCH THREAD

JJ REBEL

Superb from start to finish, Parkin was god like- Michael Murphy was everywhere as was Mets as Hodgey scored two excellent goals. Hampton were stroppy little girls, guys was sent off for throwing ball as Murphy 2 whilst he was on floor and soon after their subs were inciting the Slough fans, also when they equalized their scorer started giving eddie $hit.

The team deserve this! Superb season.

*swig* the team were fabulous....was really impressed by the amount of possession we retained today...thought josias, parkin, murph 1 and murph 2 were awesome but my man of the match has got to be hodges....not only did his goals win it for us, not only did he run back and defend his [****!!****] off when we needed it, but his second goal was just beautiful, calm as a coma, he walks round the keeper who he has deftly caused to fall on his backside and strikes it home....LEGEND

Was gutting to see Leigh Mason and Wilko looking a bit sad to not be playing....

Thought Eddie made a brave decision playing essentially 3 up front and boy did it pay off...

Bravo to the boys for keeping their cool when devonshire and his scum bags tried to drag them down to their level...nice to see some retaining a professional attitude

will stop rambling now, was just so pleased and proud to have been there!

Done a brief report which has been sent off to the local radio stations from what I remember (if it's right) for anyone not there - see below!

Also a big boost for the walkers. Will make tomorrow much easier after tonight's result.

BRYCO CUP FINAL

SLOUGH TOWN 3-1 HAMPTON AND RICHMOND

Two goals from Ian Hodges and one from Josias Carbon helped Slough Town claim their first silverware under manager Eddie Denton in a 3-1 victory against Hampton and Richmond.

Hampton had the best of the early play, forcing goalkeeper Michael Parkin into action twice to deny the ever-dangerous Elliott Godfrey and Richard Paquette.

It was the Rebels who took the lead though when a cross from Josias Carbon fortunately looped over goalkeeper Kieran Drake into the net.

Slough soon looked to add a second and could have done so when a cross from Carbon was headed straight at Drake by top-goalscorer Matt Murphy.

Hampton soon grabbed an equaliser when former Rebel Dudley Gardner hit a swerving shot from the edge of the area low into the net.

The turning point in the match came just before half-time when Murphy and Dean Wells tangled in the area. Players from both sides came rushing in and in the melee Wells was adjudged to have thrown the ball at Murphy when he was on the ground. He was duly sent-off.

After half-time Slough began brightly and created good chances that were not taken. The closest being a Murphy header looped onto the bar and rebounded to safety.

The breakthrough finally came on 75 minutes when a scramble in the area was poked into the net by Hodges.

Roared on by their travelling supporters Slough made the game safe in

injury-time when Hodges ran through the Hampton defence, dummied the keeper and coolly slotted the ball into the net.

Rebels: Parkin, Carbon, Micheal Murphy, Daly, Saulsbury, Harris (Cann 80), Spencer, Seedel, Hodges, Matt Murphy, Metcalfe. Not Used: Hakki, Shepherd, Steer, Allaway.

A netural view...

Hampton had some very good players (the number 9 was perhaps the best forward i've seen at this level!) and if it wasn't for the sending off i'm sure they'd of won it. Slough counter attacked well in the first half as it was mostly Hampton but they were denied by some very good saves by Parkin. The Carbon goal looked good from the Stand but i was told it was meant to be a cross. The Hampton goal was odd...i don't think it too a deflection but it moved ALOT so Parkin did not have a chance. Second half started well for Hampton dispite being down to ten men But couldn't create the same class of chance they did in the first half. Slough again counter attacked well and a mix of bad luck and poor judgement meant they had to wait for the 2nd goal. After that Slough were all over Hampton apart from the odd counter attack and could of had a few goals but had to settle for one in injury time

All in all a good game, loud fans and i got to meet Dave again!

Great Night.

Totally agree that Hodgey gets MOM. To get back up front and score when it really matters is the sign of a good player. Remember his goal against Salisbury in the FA Cup when he had just come back from injury.

But spare a thought for Spencer. I know he gets a lot of stick but last night with no Wilko we needed the midfield to stand strong. Spence put in a couple of real bone-crunching tackles and kept it simple playing the ball wide whenever he got the chance.

Also once again Eddie makes a radical change in a big game ( Allaway in against Walsall) and it pays off. Nice one.

i agree, spencer does deserve recognition, alright there were a few dodgy passes and a couple of instances where he was easily dispossessed but overall i thought he was extremely comfortable in Wilko's shirt...it seems the spirit of Wilko's hard, crunching tackles has been instilled in the shirt, lets just hope the crippling injries aren't passed on too or, even better, that the ugly rumours of Wilko's retirement aren't true!?!

fantastic match brilliant from start to finish!! a few dodgy moments but we we great otherwise - especially considering it was game number 59 for the season! well deserved rebels, so many contenders for man of the match - mine would probably have been steve daly, but there are quite a few who could get it!

a great atmosphere produced, well done to the rebels fans who took up over three quarters of the ground! was fantastic singing along to the chants of the barmby army and watching the team celebrate. a memorable night.

thanks for the introduction gary - maybe next season ill come over and speak to the rest of you, but i believe i was standing next to charlie and marcus in the first half????

WELL DONE YOU REBELS WELL DESERVED WEVE HAD A GREAT SEASON!!!

A very enjoyable game to watch, both teams played some great end to end football, but I think we certainly played the better football, although it was a bit nerve racking at times.

What a Great Atmosphere last night I now have sore throat from all the chanting, and I managed to say hello to Brighton Rebel and Radders.

What a fiiting finale to what has been a Great Season for the Rebels.

I will certainly be watching more games next season.
