GRATEFUL BUGGERS...NOT!!!

Recommended Posts

Well these things have to go in stages and at an average league game the bar area in the past would be packed out so people would be put off from going to the bar. Also the club hires it out (or at least use to) for socail events a larger bar area means they can charge more for hire and as they can get more people in hire bar takings see win win situation providing funds for further improvement nl footy is a business oz like any other sport. Oz its not as though as Cressing is the nicest ground around is it

So lets put some facts straight here. Some unknown claret writes to the paper obviously pissed off that nothing has moved forward with the athletic club. Why he has to slag us off is a mistery as seven years ago when chelmsford were kicked out of their groundshare they came to us and asked if we could help to save their club as, if they could not arrange a share with a A grade club they would not be able to gain promotion. A mutually agreeable arrangement was made and seven years later they are still here paying the same rent although our percentage we have to pay Bas Council has risen each year thus leaving us with a lower income as the lease went on. Our return for this is to be slagged off at every opportunity by a number of clarets, who even decided not to use the bar facilities to ensure we received as little revenue as possible. What a wonderful way to show grattitude to a club who has played and it appears will continue to play a large part in helping your club stay at the level currently acheived and possibly even in business still. We were'nt the only reason you are still in existence but if we had not done what we did 7 years ago the chances of you ending up in the ESL would probably have been a reality. It would be nice sometimes for clarets ( with a few exceptions) to show some appreciation for what we have done to help a fellow club and stop slagging off the facilities made available to you for a very meagre sum of money.

My point is that you have an awful lot of posts on this site considering a lack of a 'city' board. Im sure IAN W could quite easily set one up for you

Well there are several clubs using fans-focus are there not, though I do have a fair few posts on our CCFC messageboard as well if you'd care to visit us. Just because we haven't registered for a site with Ian W doesn't mean we shouldn't post on these boards does it?

Have you really never noticed supporters from various clubs posting on other forums such as this (fans-focus) or bravenet or ez-board or the Isthmina fansforum etc? Why not venture out a bit more - we're all quite harmless you know...aint that so, Gazza..?

Thank you for so graciously 'slagging us off' to put it in your own terminology. Cannot recall many, if any, clarets coming on here having a go about BTFC.

Think you should do a bit more research before
stating your 'facts'....only too happy to oblige you if you are really interested ?

An interesting point of view from the independent candidate.

During our travels a couple of years ago I found myself at Edgware talking to an official of Wealdstone FC. Long story short, he was telling me what an unhappy relationship their ground share had been on occasions. Move on to a visit to Maldon Town and they were speaking quite harshly about their experience of playing host to Chelmsford. Our own experience of Romford playing at Hornchurch had plenty of tensions.

The truth is that groundsharing is a marriage on convenience and no more. The tenant needs a ground of a certain standard to continue to play at a given level whilst chasing a dream elsewhere. The landlord banks the rent money and hopes to screw a few more pounds out of the bar. Make the most of it, its an income stream that runs off down the street with its [****!!****] on fire when the tenant moves out.

Don't feel bad of either side of this dispute. Just look for the first chance to make the break and get on with living your life in the future.
