This weeks Essex Chronicle has printed a letter by Rick O'Shea, who has complained about the delay in Chelmsford's ground development. Mr. O'Shea, who shall now be known as [****!!****], writes:

 

"That they (Chelmsford) have been reduced to sharing the ramshackle facilities at Billericay."

 

There is more but I don't have the paper with me at the mo...

 

Ramshackle!!! Well at least we've got a ground...perhaps you would perfer going back to park football...Oh hang on, you play like a park team and you've got a park thug for a manager!!! Better Ramshackle facilities than no facilities. Nobody is forcing them to play at New Lodge, they can always go to Bowers and play in the ESL...

do they Thorns...Well I suppose when you consider that you're on the starting line up for Her Majesties XI, they do. I heard their facilities are very accomodating...and as long as you don't "flare" up on the pitch, you'll be a regular.

Even a certain Mr Kent last year commented to the press that New Lodge needed a re-vamp and he was to see that funds were available for that purpose. Has work started/in progree/ or finished yet?

 

Otherwise, I agree guests shouldn't cricise their hosts no matter how they find things, a clear case of beggars can't be choosers.

I think it's fair to say that a considerable amount of time, money and effort has been expended on the facilities at New Lodge over the past year... When the clubhouse is finished it will be as good as anything in the league... new boardroom and office facilities last summer... new pitch irrigation system has seen an improvement in the pitch... new tannoy so everyone can hear Gazza's dulcet tones...

 

Meanwhile the Chelmsford website is recycling old news stories... apparently they're due to be moving into Melbourne park in dec/jan... exactly the same story was run this time last season... We shall see.

No, they'll be welcome but they can stop bitching about the facilities...Facilities which they gratefully use but contribute nothing to apart from the rent.

 

If they had their own ground, they would certainly need people to do some work in refurbing or sprucing up, certainly after a couple of years. If they had helped put in the effort, as Slough do at Windsor's ground, we wouldn't be so "partisan" about our beloved "home".

Jeez, didn't realise beer and burgers were all free for us tenants......have to remember not to hand over the money on the next visit.

 

...now, if some more of your supporters bothered to turn up and put in the effort on the refurb and sprucing front.....but bet it's the same old faces, eh?

Well the ground is in a poor state for a reason baso as a result of that hair-brained idea nothing was done. Kev I take that as an offer to help. Also plenty of money etc as been spent improving the facilties and the results can already be seen in a considerably more spacious bar area
