Steve Cook really knew how to spot potential in a player, I mean ditching Challinor for Oakes was a masterstroke, I mean where are these people now?

Jon Challinor's at Aldershot in the Conference play-offs. A couple of months ago, I heard that Scott Oakes was playing alongside his old mucker Steve Cook for some Ryman Div 2 side, the name of which escapes me.

That'll be Stotfold in the United Counties League, twas a masterstroke as if Scott Oakes stayed in say, Ireland, he probably wouldn't be available for Stotfold, good insight. I believe Tomlinson is also there, another quality Cook signing like Glynn and MacDonnell.

Players get released, managers make mistakes, it always happens, always will.

 

The biggest mistake made by a manager in releasing a player was by our 'Golden Greats' manager John Mitchell.He released Iain Dowie who went on to do rather well for himself.
