Heard a rumour at the game last night that Wilko is doubtful for the final and that he will be hanging up his boots after the Worthing game due to his body no longer being able to take any further punishment.

He did mention to me he wouldnt be playing next year at the race night, but I am hoping he will change his mind

He came and sat in the stand last night and he was clearly having to climb the stairs gingerly. The guy has more tons more guts than most which made it all the more painful to watch........

I could understand why if he did it, but what a massive loss to the team (or any team) it would be. Hope we can squeeze another season out of him, or if not, hope we can retain him in some form at the club.

 

Not only a great player for doing the 'un-noticed role', but a thoroughly top guy off the pitch as well.

I had a long chat with Lord Wilko on Saturday night and he said he was considering calling it a day. He's been playing first team football for 19 years but now is suffering badly again with injuries and whilst he loves playing it's taking longer and longer to recover.

 

When the walk is out the way I'm going to start an online petition for him to keep going for one more year. He's one of the most honest and committed players I've ever seen and a top, top man off the pitch too. I'd be gutted if he never pulled on a Rebels shirt again.

Has been an inspirational 110% player for the 'REBELS' always makes a difference to the team and will be a great loss if not playing against Hampton a game he deserves to play in to be rewarded for all his efforts.

Don't know if he's got an official title as assistant manager but would assume he is! Also don't forget Alan Judge coaches the reserves (at least I think that's still true).
