who will be up there next season?

Recommended Posts

it seems it is only a matter of time before enfield town will be promoted and the likes of great wakering and tilbury come down and maybe white notley and white ensign come up.

i then pose the question of who will be pushing for the title next season?

ive heard concord will be splashing a bit of cash and will be appointing a new manager. it may be the return of ben embury who would be able to attract some of their championship winning squad back.

if wakering and tilbury hold on to current players will they cope with the different style of play in the ESL?

has anyone seen a vast improvement in teams over final weeks of the season to late for this year but looking good for next year. in my opinion bowers are stepping it up a gear.

obviously usual suspects romford will be contenders.

i think waltham abbey have great foundations in their squad to be right up there, what a start they had this year, and barkingside have proved worth their top 4 finish.

barkingside have very strong side in my view. that could prove to be a good shout LS. I think their problem has been playing the lesser teams in the ESL. to win the league you need to play every game the same. barkingside recently beat us, drew with enfield and came home from hullbridge with a point.

i rate waltham abbey.

bn1 like you say it depends on who holds onto their better players. every team obviously has players who want to play at a higher level and if they get the opportunity then they may take it. that will obviously have an effect on their squads.

we have had a good season this year with a very young squad. its most of the players first season in senior football and hopefully they will improve with experience. i think im right in saying we are the only team in the league to have beaten every team.

it also depends on money as well. if burnham keep their squad then they will be a top side again, likewise if any team gets an injection of cash they will probably be competing.

its a long old summer and a lot can happen!

bn1 are you in a local cup final or something?

From what I've seen this year Waltham Abbey, Burnham and B'Side will be fighting it out. I think Romford will be be like most years, there or there abouts but not good enough for the title but will probably win a cup. I personally like B'side. I think they are probably the best side we have played. Very organised and led very well by Danny Gilley. Bowers no way. But I fancy Stansted to have a good year. A couple of good players and their front two are very good. I was very surprized when we played them. I think Apsa, Brentwood and Hullbridge will scrap it out for the bottom places which leaves around 10 places up for grabs. The difference between 12th and 5th may be quite big it terms of points but anyone can beat anyone in this league. So 5th to 12th could have some surprizes. I must say after playing Southend Manor I can't believe they are 6th. But the summer usually gives us a clue as to how teams will do, with players coming and going.

i agree that on their day anyone can beat anyone in this league. is a very tough league to win so credit to enfield only losing one game all season. will be even tougher next year. you never know towners may still be around but i doubt that.

In the four years I've been watching the ESL the quality has improved dramatically. I reckon that if Town do achieve the deserved promotion Barkingside will be front runers. They are the best team I've seen in the ESL this season. Walthiam Abbey should improve as the players will be more mobile now that they are out of nappies (only joking lads). Would like to see Eton Manor and APSA continue to improve. Manor are a good club but have stagnated this season.

You're right Mr Happy but I lay the blame solely at the door of Mr Margolis. His training methods were questionable and he missed more games than he attended. Certain players have now left the club and we are in a much better state. The new players who have come in have done extremely well but their attitude and committment are their major contributions to the club. After a good preseason (and this pre season will be long) the boys will be fitter and playing much better than this year. If you take into account we haven't had training facilities and the shambolic fixture list we have done better than you would think. I have the utmost confidence in the players that next season will hopefully be very positive. Having said that we still progressed further in some cup competitions than Eton Manor ever have so there are positives to take form the season.
