Good luck to BFR...........

Ian

Recommended Posts

.......who tomorrow morning starts the sponsored walk to Worthing. BFR has, very sensibly, decided to split the day one distance of 27 miles over two days so the rest of us will meet up with him on Thursday afternoon 3 miles south of Guildford.

That's not only a very sensible approach, as we'll testify when we've tried to do all 27 miles in one day, but also a fantastic commitment in taking three days of precious holiday to walk on behalf of the Trust and the charity.

Good luck, mate. See you Thursday and make sure you've got the beers in for when we arrive!

Cheers Ian, thanks Staines. With the forecast looking better tomorrow than Thursday it appears I may get quite a bit of good fortune out of starting the walk early. I've got myself sorted in terms of where I stop tomorrow and will re-start from on Thursday - look out for the Castle Grove Inn in Chobham (mentioned on the route after 14.5 miles). Not only do I have the benefit of walking nearly half the distance without Dom and Radders <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> I get first choice on where I'm sleeping and have the chance to put my feet up and watch the snooker.

Beers will be in. I'll have panda pops for Radders and Dom

8.45?? What a slacker! That's almost lunchtime! I hope none of you think we're leaving that late on Friday morning??!!!

Seriously, well done to BFR. Watch out for updates on the forum with how the walk is progressing from our correspondent, Mr Gary Thomas!

I understand his progress was subsequently halted slightly at the Datchet level crossing by the 9.53. Possibly because he couldn't be arsed to walk over the bridge - which is fair enough.

Latest update from BFR:

Reached the 11 mile marker at about 12.30pm. His feet were begining to hurt but he had not been caught in the torrential hail downpour that hit Maidenhead.

Let's hope he avoided that. I think he was only looking to 13 or 14 miles today so he may have already reached his target.
