Taken from Fleet MAD, by our good freind Paul Harrison.

"Story by Paul Harrison 25 April 2005

Gravesend and Northfleet end the season with a fourth consecutive defeat, this time at home to Burton Albion.

A crowd of just over 1100 witnessed a first half which Fleet frankly looked competent enough to win easily, Jay Saunders was again the outstanding performer in the team and is easily the clubs player of the season. This time he went close with a header which forced the visitors keeper into a first class save.

In the second half two goals from the visitors killed the game dead, the Burton fans celebrated in style as the majority of the Gravesend and Northfleet supporters trooped off prior to the final whistle being sounded, perhaps wondering what inspiration the summer will bring."

I cannot understand why Harrison spoils the truth with his own biased slant on things.

Why say the crowd was just over 1100, when at 1169, it was just uder 1200?

As presumably he wasn't there on Saturday, how can idiot features Harridon give an accurate report? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Apart from the attendance it aint that far removed from the truth GP - he could also have mentiontioned we did`nt score in the last 4 games. I expect many people like myself will be a bit restless over the future this summer.

Wholesale changes ARe needed, I'm afraid. In particular to our front 4. I would advocate all 4 out, a new 4 in. The present strikeforce of Essandoh, Sigere, Onoyimni and Pinnock simply do not to the job required. If we stick with them, we are good bets for relegation.

For the record the league stats tell the story

Name Games Goals

Essandoh 31 9

Onoyimni 21 6

Pinnock 14 2

Sigere 11 1

Total 77 18

Not a good strike rate from our forwards, you will agree.

Stats from Whitebucket.

Sigere is lucky to have even one goal attributed to him as in the game inquestion:-

1. He never made contact with the ball ( I was standing in line with him so had an excellent view );

2. It was a clear own goal hitting the defender on his knee which diverted the ball into the net. kmj.

A fair view - provided that such wholesale changes don't go as wrong as they did before the start of 2003/2004.

Personally, of the four, I'd be most inclined to keep Manny if at all possible.

Manny is certainly the most likely to open a defence it is a shame that he has picked up so many injuries, maybe he will be luckier next season.

I'm not sure that I would give up hope on Roy yet either, he showed he can do the business in this league last season and he could easily start next seson right back in form. If he plays though the team should play to Roys strengths i.e. two wingers getting to the byline and pulling crosses back for Roy to attack, as we have seen this season long diagonal balls and Roy drifting out to the wings just don't work.

As always many of the teams in this league will go through extensive transitions during the close season, last season we didn't and I'm sure that having a settled side helped us get off to the good start which ensured that we were not involved in the relegation dogfight. Two seasons ago we made wholesale changes and consequently gave the rest of the league a six game headstart.

I think it is vital that whatever Liam does in the summer the side is settled before the end of the pre-season matches.

Indeed proof that this guy is a lying w*****.
Seemed to me only the usual early leavers departed?
Others headed to the bar in readiness for the player awards?

If he didn't try to do too much, wandering all over the place, spending a lot of time out wide, then maybe he would be in a position to stick the chances away. You don't see Boylan doing that, in fact I've hardly noticed him in the two games against us, but he scored twice. IMO his positional sense is poor, and I'd thought Daish would have picked up on this

As I have posted elsewhere, I think we need a further coach to work with our forwards. The manager and assistant were defenders and are unlikely to have transferable skills to help a striker to score goals. kmj.

I maybe wrong, and please correct me if I am, but.....did we not have Mr Hillyard as a coach.....and did he improve Wilko's kicking ??

Hmmmmm......

Jury is still out on that one !!

Could that be the managers orders to get rid of the ball quickly..........I know from experience if you kick too quickly your accuracy suffers. Seeing all the talk has been about the long ball game, this could be a cause!

I would say Pullen's kicking fluctuates a bit - it is occasionally very poor, but is usually pretty solid.
