A trip to Highbury

Recommended Posts

Silly money to watch 90 minutes of football. You pay all that to sit down and watch a game of football. You can't stand up and you can't sing, you may as well sit at home and watch it.

I have sky and Chelsea TV anyway so to stay at home I won't be getting any extra charge, so I may as well spend all my spare time, when Chelsea's games aren't on the telly, watching the mighty Fleet.

Some Chelsea fans have condemned me as an outcast for this. I realise they may well be reading this at the moment and I aim this at "Carefree" and "ChelseaW6", you both know who you are, these perticular Chelsea fans can go [****!!****] themselves, I don't no special preference from either of you two to tell me who I support.

People can have two teams it happens all the time, it's not like I'm leaving chelsea in any bad predicament. The gap left by me will be filled by someone else while at the same time the gaps at the Fleet are endless.

Your £51 would not have gone far at the Library last night, but I should imagine it would have gone a fair distance at Stonebridge Road.

This is a party election broadcast by the non-league fans association.

Agreed, despite the success the high prices and lack of atmos are not worth the bother. I'll exile myself in Gravesend, watch them on the box, or listen to Talksport, or occasionally sample Stonebridge Road.

Understand a number of exiles come to the Fleet, lets hope the money men drive the loyal supporters to the home town teams.

Yeah, there was an article in FourFourTwo magazine a month or so ago where they interviewed fans who have lost interest in their big sides. An Arsenal fan for 20 years now watches QPR and wants his son to support them, and a Chelsea fan now goes to see Barnet play.

So as it got a fair bit of a publicity, some other fans of big teams may have read it and related to it quite well and may now attend local games more often.

A mate of mine at work, a life long 'Gooner' and season ticket holder, because of the expense, is giving it two more years. The final year at Highbury, followed by the first season at their new ground. After that he's watching his local club, Cray Wanders and he can't wait.

A friend of mine, who is an Arsenal season ticket holder, already misses approx 20% of their games to watch Exeter City. He will also watch Reading from time to time. kmj.

Two years? That will end, he'll give them up before that. I said two years as well, more like two months.

A seat on the half-way line at the new stadium will set you back a paltry £4,750 per season.

Makes my £1,000 for ten years seem quite good value.

Makes listening to the Chas and Greenie show even better value for money!
