What an epic battle that could turn out to be. I've really been getting into both these guys recently so I'm not sure who I want to come out on top.

It's like the Oasis/Blur chart battle of 1995 all over again - fully expect coverage on News At Ten!!

That is a quality week of releases.

 

Might be hard to get some copies in the smaller HMV's and stuff which will be a shame as the momentem behind the band is gathering pace.

Not quite sure how well distrubuted releases on Fierce Panda are, after all their biggest ever hit was Art Brut's last single which went to number 49.

Although HMV are offering all 3 formats for a fiver as one of them multi-deals.

 

Personally I'll be buying A, Art Brut, Dogs, Duke Spirit, El Presidente, Helen love, House of Love, Idlewild, Maximo Park, Weezer.

 

Is that Killers track a newie or on the album?

Interesting that Coldplay and White Stripes' new singles aren't out for a month or so yet, but are available to buy and dowload on MSN Music.

 

Presumably this also means they're eligible for chart entry, despite not being released in the shops yet??

No, singles are only available for the charts from the week they are released in a "hard" copy, so they will basically lose 4 weeks of sales.

Unless they did like the last Gorillaz track that went Top 30 last week and cheekily release 100 on 7" single (already doing a swift trade on e-bay by all accounts), although the Gorilliaz track is due out in the standard formats in the next couple of weeks.

I could see quite a few bands doing this.

Just passing the time and reading what you bunch have to say about the match this weekend - some interesting reading on here...

 

EFMTFTV is quite right on the Gorillaz being a bit sneaky in releasing a limited 7'' to get round the rules. No end of bitchin from the indies led by Gut - those guys need to get tuned in and sign deals with all the DSPs and then they wouldn't be forced out. And Gut are releasing that Crazy Frog ring tone - have no sympathy for them at all. On the flip side of this bands such as the Modern who only release online will never chart (deservedly?)... BTW funny you mention MSN Music, i've yet to seen anyone who views it before - I'm behind the home/genre pages on that site amongst others. Unfortuantely can't do anything for you with Art Brut - not in our catalogue at the mo...
