Saturday, Romford FC invited Raphael Park Rovers U7's to their match against Stansted. I thought you may be interested to hear how Romford FC are encouraging football in the local community. Please see the below detailing what happened on the day.

Romford FC invited Raphael Park Rovers & other junior football clubs to their final home league game of the season against Stansted. Our friends Jon Gildersleeve (Youth Development & Community Officer - RFC) & Steve Gardener (Chairman - RFC) were at the ground ready to greet us on our arrival at 2pm. There was a buzz of excitement at the ground as there must have been at least 60 children who were performing in a pre-match warm with the players. All the children were enjoying the experience of showing off their skills in front of the gathering crowd. The RFC trainers were excellent with the junior players, taking time to explain the training drills. Five minutes before the match, the Raphael's boys formed a tunnel & were waiting in great anticipation of meeting the RFC players. The RFC players arrived with each taking a Raphael's player onto the pitch. The players were obviously hyped up for the match, but took the time to have photos taken with the children & have a little chat with their mascots.

It was then time for the match to start. All the children took to the stand making a huge din in support of their local football club. After an entertaining first half, all the junior football clubs went back onto the pitch for some more training. An excellent day out for all concerned was complete as RFC recorded a fine victory.

I would like to thank RFC for inviting our club to take part in the pre-match warm up. The children had a fantastic time & will be returning next season to support their local club.

A massive thanks to you all at Romford FC for an absolute fantastic day for my team on Saturday. All the boys really enjoyed it and were made felt to special by the coaches and the players.

The boys loved Steve King and he did a great job in presenting their trophies to them.

To receive their awards in front of a packed stand really made their day.

The parents felt proud and were thoroughly impressed with the Romford set-up. They are already talking about making a trip to Romford a regular Saturday afternoon event next season.

Put us down for another day next season…….the boys can’t wait!

Many thanks again and lots of luck with the community programme – you are doing a great job.
